Job Description

Are you a HR Business Partner with solid generalist experience looking for an exciting role that enables you to make an impact in a changing organisation? Wood Mackenzie is a knowledge business. We are looking for a Regional Human Resources Business Partner to join our team on a 1 year fixed term contract. You will be based in our Edinburgh office and will be responsible for people matters for our EMEA employees as well as supporting the EMEA HR team during a period of profound change for our business.

With close alignment to the Divisional HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, HR Operations, Reward, Finance, Payroll, and the local management teams, you will be responsible for providing commercially focused HR services that:

Main Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Divisional HRBPs, Talent Acquisition, and managers to ensure the timely recruitment of high calibre, qualified employees whilst effectively managing costs and maintaining a positive candidate experience.
  • Partner with HR Ops on new starts on-boarding, returner, and leaver processes so they have an exceptional experience whilst working with us.
  • Carry out exit interviews, report on findings and trends to support identifying commercial retention solutions
  • Act as a consultant / coach / confidant to managers and supporting our leaders identify and proactively address performance and employee issues, managing risks pragmatically and ensuring legal compliance
  • Manage Employee Relations activities to deliver the best possible outcomes for the organisation and whilst working within employment legislation, policies, and practices
  • Review and maintain and change HR policies and procedures as required by changing legislation or new business issues to enable the Company to proactively respond to changes while setting appropriate Company standards.
  • Support Divisional HRBPs in the execution of various projects such as restructuring, talent reviews, performance management and organisational change
  • Support the identification, creation, and implementation of people capability initiatives across the region, e.g., Employee Engagement Survey, Wellbeing, Inclusion, Diversity & Belonging, Recognition initiatives etc.
  • Work closely with our Learning and Development team and facilitate activities where appropriate, including development of management and leadership capabilities.
  • Support with the analysis of reward issues, performance ratings and out-of-cycle pay awards and promotions
  • Support the review of benefits, renewals and any implementation in conjunction with Finance and Reward team.
  • Work with HR Operations, Payroll and Finance as appropriate to ensure that regional operating rhythms are met and efficient
  • Participate and support in ad hoc projects as required

Qualifications

About You    

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have proven experience as an HR Business Partner with proven coaching and mentoring skills to enable managers to effectively and confidently deal with people management issues 
  • Be comfortable and adaptable to change
  • A strong working knowledge of HR Information Systems
  • Be solutions orientated
  • Have proven experience of advising and influencing managers at all levels, on the implementation of people management policies, procedures and best practice
  • Possess a clear understanding of the principles of effective employee relations and the ability to advise and persuade managers successfully
  • Have the ability to work on multiple projects, manage conflicting priorities & deliver to deadlines
  • Have excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to influence through data
  • Have experience in a multinational commercial organisation. Extra points if you have experience in SAAS, energy, or natural resources.

  • We are a hybrid working company and the successful applicant will be expected to be physically present in the office at least 2 days per week to foster and contribute to a collaborative environment, but this may be subject to change in the future.
