Job Description

Who is Bird

Bird is a global team guided by a shared vision: to make cities more livable through safe, sustainable electric mobility. From our first e-scooter ride in 2017 to the thousands of rides taking place every day, our passionate team and award winning custom vehicles have helped riders complete hundreds of millions of carbon-free trips in more than 250 cities around the world. And we're just getting started.

We plan to go public this fall and will use the influx of capital to turbocharge expansion.  To accelerate this trajectory, we have created a new VP role to manage the global team that oversees growth with our #1 customer, cities. The ideal candidate will have a stellar track record of managing teams to win work in the public or private sectors.  They will possess the often-sought-after but rarely-found blend of being highly collaborative but also a deep critical thinker.  The Vice President will design and oversee all aspects of a process that produces world-class application content, delivers powerful pitches, and builds relationships to bring Bird to 1,000+ cities in the next few years.  Considering the industry-changing nature of the role, compensation will be highly competitive.

Responsibilities

  • Create and deliver a world-class pitch to cities, coordinate all aspects of the process, including building relationships, showcasing our technical and ops capabilities, and tailoring content to the needs of each city
  • Shape and lead the team responsible for making Bird the partner of choice for micromobility in every major city; this team will be a high-performing mix of writers, analysts, and policy pros around the globe
  • Refine our strategy to win in new regions and deepen our footprint in existing markets, including Bird’s ‘edge’ vs. competitors and how to allocate our vehicle, capital, and people resources most effectively
  • Rigorously track outcomes both quantitatively and qualitatively, identify and attack our weaknesses to steadily improve Bird’s processes, tools, products, operations, and strategy to win with cities
  • Collaborate with other executives and their teams (e.g., Ops, Sales, Product) to ensure full compliance and follow through with Permit and RFP requirements
  •

Requirements

  • 10+ year track record of success in an operating company, consulting, law, or policy that includes a demonstrated history of winning competitive multi-million dollar contracts
  • Interest in traveling to meet and understand cities in person and to work flexible hours in a global company
  • Capacity to perform under tight deadlines in a fluid environment and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Thorough attention to detail when analyzing regulatory language and developing written materials
  • Must be quick to synthesize and respond to new information while continuing to drive team priorities
  • History of building and developing winning teams in a fast-paced, competitive context

Preferred Qualifications

  • JD, MBA, or relevant PhD preferred
