Job Description

 

Modern Meadow is seeking a Chief of Staff to join our innovative company. Reporting to the Chief Science and Technology Officer, this role will lead and support high-level, high-impact initiatives within the larger Technology organization, flexing between strategy and execution. This highly visible position will work closely with the CTO and Leadership Team in overseeing key Technical organizational initiatives including planning, executive communications, and strategic projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the Office of the CTO and the larger Modern Meadow Leadership Team on business deliverables and strategic initiatives
  • Support and drive the annual budgeting process by overseeing laboratory equipment asset identification, associated maintenance plans, and oversight of R&D Software needs including Search software, data analysis software, LIMS licensing, and other general R&D computing software needs
  • Support the R&D execution and portfolio management processes through routine updates of the R&D resource allocation, assisting in the preparation and presentation of technical programs at milestones and gates reviews and working with the CTO to assess and balance R&D resource allocations to support key business needs
  • Drive routine Board preparation activities including partnering with technical staff to prepare for quarterly pre-board technical presentations, annual strategy review processes and quarterly board presentations and other presentations as needed
  • Review and draft internal and external communications: reports, speeches, and other materials as needed
  • Attend and manage 45/90-day technical presentations and provide generalized feedback on risks and achievements over the research period
  • Communicate across the Modern Meadow functional teams, escalating risks and roadblocks
  • Manage and support the IP portfolio and general IP strategy and execution ensuring timely quarterly updates of the IP portfolio, patent tree and review of the IP budget while working closely with the CTO to execute patent portfolio decisions in partnership with the business line strategies
  • Externally represent MM at meetings and events to drive external messaging in alignment with brand and messaging strategies

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree coupled with 7-10 years’ experience working in or serving Biotech/Chemical/Pharmaceutical industry, which may include management/strategy work
  • Superior relationship building and listening skills, able to build rapport quickly and collaborate across business functions and band levels with ability to influence constructively
  • Excellent communications skills both verbal and written
  • Expert proficiency within Microsoft Office Suite
  • High attention to detail, under urgent or high-pressure circumstances
  • Supreme level of integrity and strong judgement; trustworthy, credible
  • A self-starter who can take pieces of information and translate into actionable parts
  • Self-directed with ability to manage and motivate others with strong analytical skills
