Position Summary

Ava is seeking to hire a full-time Clean Energy Services (CES) Analyst. The CES Analyst will join the Local Development team and support exciting electrification programs being developed and implemented in Ava’s territory. The CES Analyst will perform a variety of technical and analytical tasks in support of the Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) Network. The CES Analyst will also have an opportunity to support other CES and local development programs.

Position Details
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and operate the internal Ava pricing model to assess pricing strategies and drive utilization for the ongoing operations of the DCFC network

  • Analyze site-by-site and charger-by-charger utilization data to assess the effectiveness of siting, pricing, and ongoing efforts, among other operational characteristics to inform future DCFC siting and operating decisions

  • Work with the marketing team to determine impacts on utilization

  • Research, collect, and analyze data on customers' behaviors before, during, and after using Ava's DCFC network

  • Coordinate with the Power Resources team on Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS)/Renewable Energy Credit (REC) procurement and general utilization projects as they flow into load forecasting, Integrated Resource Planning (IRP), and procurement

  • Help to refine existing project management standards that drive coordination related to cross-functional efforts

  • Maintain and utilize Excel and GIS databases for strategy development and electric vehicle (EV) charging siting

  • Manage Site License Agreement (SLA) and Master Site License Agreement (MSLA) administrative process for subsequent network expansion 

  • Support and take the lead on grant administration and management for DCFC projects 

  • Manage the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)/Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) annual data request and integration support with Data Analytics

  • Represent Ava before various internal and external stakeholder audiences; prepare and deliver presentations to Ava staff, local/regional/state agencies, elected officials, industry, community-based organizations, and community development advocates

  • Support administrative tasks for managed charging program(s) post-launch

  • Organize municipal and commercial contacts and utilize standardized tools and processes to facilitate more coordinated communication across the CES and the Local Development team

  • Support programs related to EV adoption, and other CES programs as appropriate

  • Maintain and leverage internal and external databases, including conducting scheduled and ad hoc analysis

  • Coordinate development of Ava documents, including Requests for Proposals, Request for Offers, and/or Request for Information solicitations; develop solicitations, participate in review and selection of proposals

  • Draft staff reports for Ava Board of Directors and Committee meetings

  • Perform other duties as required

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience. Additional experience is considered in place of a Bachelor’s degree. 

    • Relevant fields: engineering, finance, or business a plus

      • Relevant experience: EVs, EV charging, solar, or energy storage are a plus. Previous experience with transportation electrification-related CPUC, CARB, CEC, and local government policy or similar is a plus

  • Working knowledge of basic software programs, including Microsoft Office applications, Salesforce, and GIS (or similar software). 

  • Experience with Excel or Google sheet for financial modeling

  • Take responsibility, work independently, and think critically

  • Demonstrate patience, tact, and courtesy in interactions with internal staff and external parties

  • Have strong business awareness

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask

  • Ability to work independently on projects with minimum supervision

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Government agency experience is a plus

 

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position is $106,093.67, with a Total Compensation of up to $112,459 annually based on performance.

Location and Working Conditions
This position will be based in Ava headquarters in Oakland, near BART. Ava's team has a hybrid approach inclusive of in-office and remote work. This role is expected to go into the office Tuesdays, Thursdays and the first Wednesday of the month. We are not providing sponsorships currently.

Licenses/Certificates
