POSITION SUMMARY

Inspire’s Sales and Business Development team is seeking a VP of Business Development. The VP of Business Development will be responsible for driving success in developing new business opportunities while retaining existing business. This role will be responsible for strategic growth and development in all of our existing sales channels (D2H, Retail and Alt Channels) and building new sales channels through effective business community relationships, marketing, sales, and communication efforts. In collaboration with cross functional executive leaders, this role will lead the development and execution of a strategic business development plan. You're a strong fit for this role if you have an entrepreneurial and commercial mind that takes a solutions approach. This role will report to SVP, Sales and Business Development .

THE VP, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT HAS 10 MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop strategies and roadmaps to increase market share, brand, and client awareness.
  • Identify and close business opportunities across a full spectrum of channels while developing a business case for executing such opportunities.
  • Establish measurable outcomes and assume primary accountability for achieving these outcomes in a cost-effective manner. Monitors progress in meeting incremental goals and implements the necessary and timely course changes to assure successful results.
  • Present Inspire’s value propositions to clients across multiple markets, addressing their key business drivers in the most compelling way; Understand client need and build a vision for how Inspire’s services and solutions will materially impact client business drivers
  • Help create and communicate value propositions for Inspire products and services.
  • Build an extensive network and client list that includes potential partners
  • Achieve ambitious sales quota via networking into new client accounts by leveraging existing relationships, targeted account planning, prospecting efforts, and marketing initiatives
  • Drive contract negotiations with clients, leveraging internal business partners as appropriate
  • Maintain pipeline progress, forecast accuracy, and opportunity progression
  • Analyze our current sales strategies and regularly improve our processes

SOME YEAR 1 DELIVERABLES

  • Expand Retail Footprint with additional big box retailer relationships.
  • Scale Events Program.
  • Identify and secure additional cross-sell opportunities.
  • Identify and secure additional Self-Source Locations.
  • Identify and secure Affiliate Partnership Opportunities.
  • Scale Local Dealer and Telesales Opportunities.

SUCCESS METRICS

  • Incremental 50-75K activations in 2022 from new business opportunities.

EXPERIENCE

  • Must Have
    • 12 plus years’ combined experience in business development plus 5 years’ of experience in a leadership role, including progressively responsible management level responsibilities
    • Advanced knowledge and skills in strategic business development, marketing, advertising, sales and public relations functions
    • Intellectual agility and ability to communicate a compelling strategic vision for the business
    • Resilient and tenacious, able to thrive in a changing environment and deal with ambiguity
    • Able to attract, inspire, lead, and develop a high performing national sales team with ownership for performance.
    • Executive level business acumen and budgeting, workforce planning and development, coaching, and leadership abilities
    • Ability to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make decisions which are timely and in the best interest of the overall organization.
    • Problem-solving; sound judgment and objectivity
    • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution and persuasion abilities
    • Expertise in understanding industry trends, impact of external and internal forces on business planning and execution, and competitive environment.
    • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Nice to Have
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field or MBA
    • Strategy consulting, investment banking, or corporate development backgrounds are preferred
    • Experience in the retail energy industry
    • Start-up experience is preferred
