User Experience

In order to make the shopping and selling experience as delightful as possible, we are seeking an Associate UX Designer to join our growing team and company.

The ideal candidate will help facilitate the design strategy and user discovery by contributing to small and large projects as we take on new challenges, update existing flows, and expand into new markets. We are looking for a passionate UX enthusiast who brings a positive, collaborative, and energetic attitude to work every day. What you’ll do:

  • Participate in design activities throughout the UX design thinking life-cycle, from building user understanding and empathy to ideation, feature definition, and iterative design to contribute to our marketplace, where millions of users come to shop and learn about solar and other clean energy products and services

  • Collaborate with other members of the design team on design and research

  • Create and contribute to user flows, sketches, low-fidelity and high-fidelity wireframes, user personas, journey maps, affinity maps, service blueprints and other UX artifacts as needed

  • Contribute to UX-led qualitative and quantitative research studies, like usability testing, surveys, card sorts, moderated discovery interview sessions with current and prospective customers, and more.

  • Be a part of our collaborative, cross-functional organization; work side-by-side with our Product and Engineering teams

What we look for:

  • 1+ years of experience in User Experience Design or other relevant experience (for example, collegiate and master-degree programs in relevant fields, UX internships, and UX certifications)

  • Basic understanding of the end-to-end design thinking lifecycle and UX research best practices.

  • Ability to collaborate with teammates on projects, from ideation and discovery to research and design and ability to apply data and research findings to designs.

  • Ability to create low-fidelity and high-fidelity wireframes, user flows, and affinity maps

  • A sense of user empathy and the desire to continue to grow that empathy. We are a consumer-first company, so this is of utmost importance

  • Strong grasp of at least one UX design tool (for example, Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, InVision, Axure, Balsamiq)

  • Solid analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills

  • Learners, doers, and dreamers - people who like to learn and grow, people who are able to effectively complete work on time and remain focused throughout the work day and week, and people who strive for best in class, innovative designs and solutions.

Bonus Points for:

  • BA/BS/MA degree in graphic design, interaction design, cognitive science, human-computer interaction, computer science or related area
  • Strong academic track record
  • Familiarity with the 10 UX Heuristics and/or the Laws of UX
  • Experience using Figma and Miro
