The company is backed by a diverse set of committed investors and we have raised over $360M to date.Role DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced chemical engineer to join the electrolyte team at Form Energy. The electrolyte team drives performance improvement across all electrodes as well as leading electrolyte scale-up efforts across the company. The ideal candidate will drive scale-up of existing processes and work with external toll manufacturers to ensure quality electrolyte can be made at scale. The candidate will drive experiments to determine specifications to pass to external partners as well as assess tolerances in sub-scale testing to understand and improve electrolyte formulations for full cell performance. The candidate will work closely with chemical, materials, and mechanical engineers on the technology development and supply chain teams. This candidate is creative, safety-conscious, and works with attention to detail, to documentation, and to learning.

What You'll Do:

  • Identify opportunities and risks for the scale-up of existing and novel electrolyte formulations and work with supply chain to evaluate options
  • Manage long-lasting, reliable relationships with external equipment vendors and toller manufacturers
  • Define process by which externally sourced electrolyte is qualifiedWork with engineers and technicians to integrate changes, refine tolerances and understand stability of the in-house electrolyte processes for various formulations to both inform internal process and specifications for external toll manufacturers
  • Define engineering and operational safety protocols for electrolyte formulations
  • Use JMP and python scripts to quantitatively analyze and visualize data

What You'll Bring:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related field
  • 5-7 years experience in chemical manufacturing, operations, process improvement and/or quality control engineering
  • Experience with large scale (50-100s of gallons) liquid processes
  • Experience defining a material specification and the process to test for compliance
  • Experience in occupational safety and health for chemical processes
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams
