The Purpose of this position: Our Controller will manage and support our team’s continued growth and best-in-class processes that drive long-term partnerships with the business, accounting, treasury, payroll, tax functions and people management. This individual will be responsible for producing accurate and timely financial statements, maintaining strong systems for controls and risk management. The Controller will work closely with the finance team on our FP&A process helping lead the team to higher levels of operational discipline via systemic reporting.
As a key member of the accounting leadership team, you will work to streamline and constantly improve Jupiter’s reporting and accounting processes with a clear sense of ownership, taking personal responsibility for decisions, actions, and outcomes. As a leader and mentor, your guidance will play a key role in technical accounting decisions while looking ahead proactively foreseeing opportunities and challenges to find solutions. With a passion for collaboration, you will work across the organization developing and maintaining positive relationships across business functions with the goal of being a valued business advisor.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and vision for scaling the accounting team and our financial infrastructure to support our high-growth journey. 
  • Identify, hire, onboard and manage key accounting resources.
  • Manage our quickly expanding AR and AP processes to support our partners, customers and vendors 
  • Establish accounting policies and procedures that ensure finance statements in compliance with GAAP accounting principles. 
  • Own the financial close process and all associated activity to deliver accurate and timely results reporting to management, regulators and the Board of Directors. 
  • Develop the team’s capabilities across the range of responsibilities: general ledger, tax, treasury, payroll, accounts payable, financial reporting, audit, insurance and legal.
  • Maintain and improve our various Finance Accounting systems including Quickbooks, and Expensify. 
  • Interact and provide information for our audit, banking, accounting, and legal stakeholders.

Education & Experience

  • Masters Degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred or undergraduate degree with equivalent work experience 
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SaaS accounting, revenue recognition, accrual and cash accounting
  • 10+ years of progressive experience, including 4+ years with a Big 4 public accounting firm or another larger organization with hands-on technical experience
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across a diverse set of teams and geographies with varying levels of financial experience.
  • Proven track record of building strong teams and leading/influencing others through highly cross-functional projects
