Vice President, New Product Introduction

About This Role

We're looking for a Vice President of New Product Introduction (NPI) to join our Product team. In this role you will fuel the growth of the company through new products by leading the definition, development, and launch of new products for Category Business Management, the commercial strategy team managing the category P&L. This will include defining a successful crop category when applied with Apeel’s technology while coordinating formulation and applications. You and the NPI team will work integrated with all departments at Apeel. You will have a critical leadership role in the organization leading Apeel’s Product Life Cycle process, driving innovation, setting development priorities, and incorporating learning to continuously improve our process. 

This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Product, and will work full time from Santa Barbara, CA. We are looking for you to join us immediately.

What You’ll Do

• Manage and build the NPI team to deliver to the 5 year business plan through product roadmap execution
• Deliver products to Category Business Management (CBM) that are setup to add to the category portfolio and meet the P&L goals
• Ensure clarity of product requirements and a validated value proposition for each of the products in the roadmap
• Own the cross functional Product Life Cycle (PLC), run a stage gate process, constantly updating the PLC with learning
• Own Product Roadmap timing
• Provide short and long term visibility to the organization of technical and market needs that are aligned with the business strategy

What You Bring 

Minimum Qualifications

• Passionate about delivering products that contribute to Apeel’s mission - We work with nature to reduce waste and create abundance for all
• 15+ years of experience in product management of physical technology products
• Experienced in consumer products and validating features and willingness to pay through consumer validation methods
• Deep experience implementing a product life cycle to achieve product market fit
• A data and financial mindset leading the NPI team to achieve high performing products with strong value propositions that lead to high revenue contribution, meeting the margin goals of the CBM team
• Enjoy building large cross functional processes, running them, and constantly iterating with learning
• Passionate about leading and enabling a team to achieve results, constantly learn, and achieve new capabilities
• Highly organized with a strong sense of urgency, ability to prioritize, and attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an appropriate blend of professionalism and friendliness with a desire to lead 
• Ability to work in a start-up environment making decisions independently sometimes with limited information

Preferred Qualification

• Material science, chemistry, or biology education or professional experience
• Global supply chain experience
