Expectations of the Director of Marketing
As the Director of Marketing, you will be responsible for strategically curating and maintaining ADL’s public-facing branding and marketing collateral to drive awareness, curiosity and interest among ADL’s target clients and industries. You will also have the opportunity to develop and execute the marketing strategy for a new climate tech accelerator we are building from the ground up. You will be expected to draw upon your marketing toolbox and knowledge of typical marketing media channels among corporations and startups alike within the energy, construction and transportation sectors.
Responsibilities
- Support the public-facing launch of ADL’s new climate tech accelerator via publications, outreach, multimedia marketing and engagement of third parties (e.g. industry journalists & publications)
- Manage the day-to-day marketing and communications for ADL’s climate tech accelerator, maintaining a cohesive, consistent and professional presence and branding
- Work closely with the various ADL practice areas to shape and execute on marketing activities and work product development
- Own ADL’s multimedia public presence, including LinkedIn and other social media platforms, our website and content therein (e.g. blog posts), ADL’s periodic newsletter, webinars and other virtual events, and specific project documentation such as case studies and slide decks
- Identify, develop and maintain relationships with key channel partners, including conference organizers, industry trade groups, and media outlets
- Identify and book conferences and speaking engagements on behalf of ADL Partners and other project leaders
- Bring a professional level of discipline with basic communications hygiene to all of ADL’s staff, including the development and implementation of best practices for email outreach, CRM maintenance and usage adherence, job postings and social media posts
- Prepare and submit responses to relevant RFIs and FOAs, including short responses and concept papers, on an opportunistic basis
- Pitch in on direct project work on an as-needed basis (up to 50% of the time, depending on acute staffing and bandwidth), which will require some ongoing knowledge of industry-level trends, challenges and opportunities
- Support ADL’s portfolio startups with light marketing support and guidance on an as-needed and as-available basis
- Plan, manage, and attend external events on behalf of ADL and our climate tech accelerator
- Spearhead new creative marketing initiatives of your own design
- Keep up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in the energy, buildings and transportation industries
Requirements
- 5+ experience in a marketing or customer-facing role
- Prior marketing experience in one or more of ADL’s three core sectors of energy, buildings, and transportation
- Demonstrated experience in managing the public-facing presence of a commercial organization, with a reviewable work product portfolio
- Solid understanding of digital marketing principles, platforms, and best practices, including SEO, SEM, social media marketing, email marketing, content marketing, and display advertising
- Strong graphic design skills and the ability to craft a cohesive narrative and story through visuals
- An articulate and polished writing/communication style with an advanced command of the English language and spelling/grammar
- Self-starter who is highly motivated and responsive, and thrives under limited guidance in uncertain situations
- Team player who enjoys working with and managing stakeholders toward common goals
- Demonstrated passion for effecting innovative, sustainable and equitable evolutions in the energy, transportation, and buildings sectors
- Strong balance of interpersonal skills with the ability to carefully research and synthesize work products with a high degree of organization
