The Position

Sofar Ocean is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to help scale our current hardware production as we enter a phase of growth in a challenging global supply chain environment. You will help maintain and grow existing relationships with contract manufacturers and vendors, build new relationships, and ensure that a healthy supply chain keeps our sensors flowing off of the production line and into the oceans where they can make a positive impact. You will have the opportunity to improve and scale our existing systems with our highly collaborative multifunctional team. 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Sofar’s supply chain for all our hardware product lines including Spotter, Smart Mooring and New Product Introduction.
  • Draw from experiences with contract manufacturers, mechanical, electrical and electromechanical hardware suppliers, bonding and coating suppliers and others to meet the production needs. Identify and help vet new vendors as needed.
  • Review relationship status with key contract manufacturers and vendors on a regular basis and provide evaluation reports on quality, timeliness and effectiveness. 
  • Manage the RFQ and PO process and ensure payments are delivered on time. Continually evaluate and forecast changes in pricing, lead-time, quality and availability of components and subsystems. Develop NET Terms with key vendors. 
  • Manage inventory, consumption and cycle-count processes. Analyze and forecast inventory levels required for meeting quarterly and annual business goals.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to establish and update a functional ERP/MRP system. 
  • Mentor junior employees, associates and interns as necessary. 

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years direct experience in supply chain management.
  • BA/BS or MS in Supply Chain Management, Finance or a related field. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Bonus Points

  • 2+ years direct experience in a manufacturing environment focused on midsize to capital hardware. 
  • CPIM/CSCP/CLTD or equivalent certification. 
  • Experience working with PCBA Manufacturers, Additive Manufacturing, Injection Molding, Rotational Molding, Sheetmetal, Machining and/or Metal Casting.
  • A passion for or connection to the ocean.
