The Role

You will setup the program and lead a multi-disciplinary and cross-functional team for the development and launch of new electric light vehicles. You will support the team with making design decisions via cost benefit analysis, identify and mitigate product and project risks and own the program schedule. You will also guide and lead the team through development uncertainties to make sure timelines and milestones are met. This role is very hands-on and you will work with the team to get stuff done.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior business leaders and key stakeholders to scope out new vehicle programs
  • Define program plans including deliverables, schedule, resource planning, budget and status reporting
  • Pro-active risk management including definition and execution of risk mitigation strategies
  • Lead the program team to ensure milestones are met and support the team with decision making
  • Participate in customer research and extract key insights to inform program scoping
  • Contribute to the creation of business cases and own the programs budget and vehicle BOM
  • Hands-on support of the team where ever possible to ensure timelines are met
  • Build best practice examples and processes for hardware product development and program management
  • Report to the Director of Product Hardware

Requirements

  • Strong initiative and ability to independently drive a process of physical product development in a start-up environment
  • Experience with management of multi disciplinary teams (design, electrical, mechanical, firmware, manufacturing)
  • Experience with creating and executing plans based on tight deadlines and multiple factors of risk
  • Experience with formulating customer insights and definition of technical requirements
  • Experience with facilitating technical decision making (features vs costs vs risk)
  • Experience in working with external suppliers, preferably in Asia
  • Ability to collaborate with people from a variety of different backgrounds across the business
  • Strong work ethic, high attention to details and commitment to achieving results
  • Ability to work across time zones (Europe, US, Australia)
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in project management or program management, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Automotive, Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics)
  • Bonus points if you have worked with electric light vehicles, ebikes, cars, scooters or robots before
  • Bonus points if you know about chassis welding technologies and manufacturing methods
  • Bonus points if you know relevant suppliers in Australia and Asia
