We inspire, engage, and support the community to increase the urban tree canopy and address climate threats and environmental justice in Los Angeles and across the region.


The School Partnerships Associate Manager will be responsible for assisting the Managers, Associate Director, and Director of TreePeople’s Environmental Education and Outdoor Equity programs (i.e., the leadership team) to support new partnerships and maintain enduring partnerships with schools and education-based organizations, their teachers and administrators. 

This position helps guide the strategic targets and impact of department’s team of ~20 members who provide interpretive field trips (access to nature, stewardship, and service-learning projects) and on-campus project-based outdoor learning and presentations; this key position collaborates with the department’s leadership team and coordinators to track, target, and optimize partner development, outreach presentations and calls/meetings, community engagement, teacher communications and recognition, geostrategy, data management, and program deliverables in order to benefit our school partners and communities.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Environmental Education and Outdoor Equity leadership team to maintain and support partnerships with schools, teachers, administrators, school districts, and youth across K-12 grade bands to strengthen our goals and target regions identified by TreePeople and Los Angeles County Public Works.
  • Promote high attendance and engagement in Environmental Education and Outdoor Equity workshops and programming across Los Angeles County through demonstrated expertise in project management, communication, and geostrategy.
  • Facilitate high-quality outreach presentations and discussions at educator conferences, school district/administrator meetings and local events targeted to teachers and students, providing responsive communication to stakeholders regarding the department’s programs and opportunities.
  • Support departmental leadership and coordinators in geostrategy to help connect coordinators to strategic school sites, including analysis of Salesforce data and mapping software, proactive participation in regional geostrategy meetings with leadership team and coordinators, and use of evidence-based assessments of partnership development; collaborate with TreePeople’s Manager of Strategy & Impact.
  • Maintain public-facing communications for the Generation Earth program, including regular monitoring of email and telephone requests by teachers, fielding requests in order to help direct teachers to the coordinators who provide environmental education and service-learning projects to that geographic area and grade band.
  • Manage Generation Earth Website, newsletter, and social media outreach in collaboration with both Managers of Environmental Education and Outdoor Equity (both Middle School and High Schools) as well as the department’s Director and Associate Director; coordinate with TreePeople’s Marketing and Communications Team.
  • Contribute to consistent and accurate reporting, metrics tracking, and data collection for key Environmental Education and Outdoor Equity initiatives in collaboration with the department’s leadership team and TreePeople’s Strategy & Impact Manager.
  • Work with Director and Associate Director to help track and target school districts within Los Angeles County; use understanding of district structure and needs to expand and sustain TreePeople’s district partnerships.
  • Represent TreePeople’s Environmental Education and Outdoor Equity in regional and state environmental education community meetings and opportunities, reporting back to leadership on opportunities for networking, professional development, best practices, new environmental education policies, curricular priorities, and future funding.
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support the overall objectives of TreePeople and its Environmental  Education and Outdoor Equity programs.

Requirements

  • Proven project management skills such as accountability, time management, prioritizing tasks, and ability to meet high-pressure deadlines.
  • Proven skills in outreach and engagement, including but not limited to: social media and newsletter outreach.
  • Proven relationship with schools and school districts across Los Angeles County.
  • High computer literacy, including familiarity with Salesforce, ArcGIS, Asana, Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, and other internet-based programs.
  • Experience in outreach and networking with schools and teachers, giving presentations, event planning, and event facilitation.
  • The ability and willingness to visit school sites across Los Angeles County to communicate with school district personnel, administrators, educators, and youth, plus effective strategic use of telephone and email.
  • Community-oriented individual who is adept at mobilizing and prioritizing the needs of a community.
  • Should have an understanding of equity, inclusion, and cultural relevance.
  • Must be able to work well both independently and on a team.
  • Strong communication skills that include professional writing, public speaking, and intra-personal communication.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus.
  • Ability to work on some Saturdays.
  • Experience working in South LA, Southeast LA, and/or Northeast San Fernando Valley is a plus.
  • Valid California Driver License and reliable transportation is mandatory.

While performing the duties of this job, this position requires the ability to drive and lift 15 pounds.

Salary Description
$26.00 per hour
