Position: Collections Manager, Ames, IA

We are looking for a Collections Manager who will be responsible for managing the Collections group operations for Pivot Bio. In addition to managing individual and team performance metrics, the Collections Manager will also execute and contribute to strategies for the Collections team to meet and sustain performance to hit the company's goals. Supervises a staff of Collection Specialists and monitors the way in which they handle phone calls and the letters they send to make sure the entire process operates in compliance with state and federal laws.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees a company’s process of retrieving money owed to them based on a set of written policies.
  • Manages the growth and development of the Collection Specialists.
  • Makes sure the Collection Specialists comply with company policies when contacting individuals and other companies to collect past due balances that they owe.
  • Ensures that all written correspondence complies with company policies in terms of verbiage and frequency of contact.
  • Keeps up with changes in state and federal laws governing debt collections and makes sure the team receives training on any changes in laws.
  • Makes sure the Collection Specialists operate within the confines of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) when making phone contact with individuals and companies.
  • Identifies areas of the collection process that need improvement and recommends enhanced process that will help collectors be more effective.
  • Tracks the rate of success of the entire process and continues to adjust when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

  • B.S. or B.A. in Finance or Business-related field preferred.
  • Experience handling complaints or difficult calls with customers.
  • Ability to be empathetic and focused on providing the best experience to all customers, regardless of their repayment situation
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills required

Other

  • Ability to work on a computer or be on telephone calls for 7 hours/day
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Occasional nights, weekend
