Salary: $10,620 – $13,292 per month plus state pension plan.

Are you an expert in energy systems with strong data analysis skills?  The California Energy Commission (CEC) is hiring an Advanced Data and Energy Lead to serve as a prime resource, subject matter expert, and innovator relating to relating to the Demand Scenarios Project, a project in the Energy Assessments Division (EAD) of the CEC. This opportunity is an Electric Generation System Program Specialist II (EGSPS II) state classification in the Advanced Electrification Analysis Branch within EAD.

EAD assesses California's electricity, natural gas, petroleum, and transportation systems and trends to provide information to the state's decision makers and the public. These assessments inform the development, and implementation, of energy policies that balance the need for adequate resources with economic, public health, safety, and environmental goals.

The Advanced Electrification Analysis Branch has primary responsibility for the development of energy demand scenarios and forecasting electricity system load modifiers including transportation electrification, efficiency, and building electrification.

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Dedication to the Energy Commission’s commitment to help the state achieve clean and affordable energy for all Californians. 

  2. Demonstrated background in advanced energy and data analysis using quantitative coding languages and software tools (e.g., R, Python, etc.). 

  3. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical information in a straightforward manger to a broad range of audience types.

  4. Detailed understanding of electricity generation, transmission, and/or distribution systems. 

  5. Strong record of developing, executing, and completing detailed and complicated technical energy projects or programs. 

  6. Ability to work well as part of a team and perform independent tasks that contributed towards a shared goal.

  7. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.

 

** Telework option is available, but hired candidate must reside in California before starting.
