Position: Data Engineer II, Field Measurement and Data Science Team, Remote

We’re looking for a Data Engineer II to join our Field Measurement and Data Science team to help us build new products that will help farmers advance sustainable crop management practices based on biological nitrogen measurement. Our Data Science team is growing quickly as our Research and Development teams develop improved strains and as our field agronomists collect more in-field data. This data engineer will play a key role in getting data available for analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop workflows and pipelines to collate and curate clean, semi-automated datasets gleaned from internal databases and external sources, and collaborate with Data Ops team to update the internal database with corrected data when necessary.
  • Maintain and develop automated, information dense visualizations to provide prompt and accurate insights to internal customers.
  • Work openly and collaboratively as part of a diverse, geographically dispersed data science team.
  • Help advocate for data driven decision making within the organization and support broad dissemination of data and analyses.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • MS Degree in computer science, biology, ecology, or related field, or equivalent training with three years of industry experience OR BS with minimum four years of experience.
  • Experience in a science or research environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong Python skills, and experience with Plotly, Dash, Tableau, or other data visualization tools.
  • Experience in SQL, REST APIs, and Django are a big plus.
  • Clear communication and documentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce clean, reproducible, and well-tested workflows. Please include the word monocotyledon in your cover letter.
  • This position is not a business analytics or consumer focused role. Applicants with experience in the biological sciences and agricultural data are strongly preferred.
