The Role

We are looking for an experienced Product Manager to join our team as we build a new software product to help the maritime shipping industry lower carbon emissions with better weather data. Wayfinder, our dynamic voyage optimization application, runs on board the largest shipping vessels in the world, providing critical decision-making context for sea captains as they navigate the world's oceans. It also supports shoreside teams aiming to improve voyage profitability and integrate technologies to decarbonize their operations.  

Building a great application and API suite will require you to have a deep understanding of our customers, their workflows, and the context and insights they need to be successful in their roles. You will collaborate with a top-notch team of engineers, ocean scientists, and product designers to translate these user stories into high quality product that empowers our users to get their work done more efficiently.

This position is located in San Francisco, working out of our Pier 28 office, and reporting to our Head of Product. 

Impact you’ll own: 

  • Lead product development for Wayfinder Ship Routing application and APIs, enabling help our customers sail ocean passages more safely and fuel efficiently
  • Empower Captains with situational context and passage planning tools to manage voyages and evaluate route recommendations  
  • Empower Shoreside Operators with oversight over their fleets and the optimization controls they need to guide Wayfinder route optimization 
  • Automate and simplify user onboarding 
  • Work closely with Customer Success and our customers – sea captains and shoreside operators – to understand their workflows, pain points, and driving motivators
  • Develop a deep understanding and vision of the maritime shipping industry and ecosystem: its challenges, opportunities, economics, and how its landscape is changing
  • Work closely with Sales and Marketing to develop product packaging, positioning, and repeatable go-to-market motions across shipping verticals 

About you

  • 4+ years of relevant product management experience
  • Experience defining, building, and launching application products 
  • Experience with user research and experience with early product and customer development 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering and sales to reach optimal tradeoffs between product experience, time to market, and cost
  • Ability to easily communicate complicated concepts to non-technical stakeholders
