Job Description

StreetLight pioneered the use of Big Data analytics to help transportation professionals and data analysts measure, analyze and improve transportation. Applying proprietary machine-learning algorithms to location data from mobile phones, vehicle navigation devices and IoT, StreetLight sheds light on travel patterns and makes them available on-demand via the world’s first SaaS platform for mobility, StreetLight InSight®. From measuring traffic volumes to optimizing new infrastructure to planning for autonomous vehicles, StreetLight powers more than 10,000 projects every month.
The Content Marketing Director will provide leadership for and help level up StreetLight’s content marketing machine that includes a wide range of formats, from thought leadership, to email newsletters and case studies to industry panels and new media. A natural storyteller, the right candidate has a track record of deriving data-based insights, is a fluent writer, and enjoys project management and the collaboration process needed to deliver content. This role reports to the SVP of Marketing and partners on a daily basis with marketing operations, demand generation, product marketing, and other internal “customers” of content. The added bonus is the opportunity to have a tremendous creative impact on how the leading transportation analytics company communicates with its customers, prospects and the media.
This position can be based in San Francisco, Vancouver, BC, Richmond, VA or be remote

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and fine-tune the day-to-day content production process, seamlessly leveraging communication and productivity tools needed to publish content.
  • Leverage HubSpot to measure and grow the Inbound funnel through organic search, referrals, and direct traffic.
  • Collaborate with other marketing team members on managing the content calendar.
  • Project-manage a small network of freelance writers, graphic designers and copy editors to produce a steady flow of content – and hire future full-time team members as warranted by the content strategy.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment impacted by the evolving needs of a dynamic external marketplace and internal communication priorities.
  • Produce strong pieces of writing that resonate with our key industries (government agencies, transportation engineering consulting firms, commercial markets), including emails, blogs, eBooks, case studies, short ad copy, nurture streams, and more.
  • Derive content ideas from new developments in the transportation universe, success stories of StreetLight’s customers, as well as analyses and research conducted by StreetLight’s data analysts.
  • Leverage social listening tools and ideas from the StreetLight teams interacting with customers to craft social media messaging.
  • Manage, publish and analyze StreetLight’s weekly email newsletter.
  • Write, build and delegate the building of HubSpot landing pages hosting eBooks, case studies, whitepapers, webinars and other content.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience working in a content role
  • Passion for organization and project management
  • Strong writing chops, with the ability to crank out good copy on a short deadline
  • Expertise in writing for different collateral types (email vs. landing pages vs. eBooks, etc.) and understanding the goals and positioning needs for each channel
  • Comfortable with moderating public-facing live content formats like webinars and virtual panels
  • Affinity for technical, data- or chart- heavy material, and the ability to bring it to life for readers
  • Familiarity with SEO and keywording content
  • Experience using CRM and web publishing platforms (HubSpot, Salesforce, WordPress)
  • Working knowledge of SEMrush on other SEO platforms (Google AdWords, Keywords Anywhere, GA) a plus

Who You Are

  • You’re metrics-driven with strong ownership and focus. We’re a data company, after all.
  • You are always on the watch for new innovative marketing tactics and creative ideas to improve our reach and drive more effective engagement.
  • Your organization and project management skills are on-point. You’re able to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously, with a high attention to detail.
  • You fearlessly adapt to change. You develop workarounds to achieve goals when obstacles inevitably appear or can pivot quickly when priorities change.
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit. You iterate, innovate and model a continuous learning mindset.
  • You're driven. You’re ready to join an equally driven team that values creativity, data and innovation.
  • You bring positive energy to the team, even in the face of looming deadlines.

What We Offer

  • A leadership role on a dedicated, connected, and high-output team, who celebrates each other’s successes more than our own.
  • A place where you can grow while making a real impact.
  • Employer subsidized comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage in the US
  • 9 paid company holidays plus accrued time off.
  • Ample virtual initiatives and events to keep you connected with your colleagues.
