The Role: Principal Operations Engineer

The Principal Operations Engineer will be the primary subject matter expert for large-scale heavy duty hydrogen infrastructure operations pertaining to compression, transport, and refueling systems. Your skill and expertise will be leveraged for:

  • transitioning our global heavy duty hydrogen infrastructure projects from the project delivery to the operational phase
  • training local operations personnel on LIFTE infrastructure operations
  • optimizing overall system performance during the operations phase
  • overseeing and leading the maintenance management strategy of heavy duty hydrogen infrastructure
  • contributing to iterative product design to ensure superior operability and maintainability

 

The Principal Operations Engineer will report to the Head of Operations.

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Be a primary subject matter expert for hydrogen infrastructure operations in the generation, compression, transport, and refueling system at LIFTE
  • Impart key operations and maintenance management knowledge to the global LIFTE project partners to aid expansion LIFTE’s rapid global hydrogen footprint
  • Develop a hydrogen-specific training program for O&M partners on hydrogen infrastructure operations and deliver your training program to fulfill LIFTE projects and services agreements
  • Contribute your experience during engineering conceptual and detail design phases of LIFTE’s products, to ensure operability, maintainability, and safety to ensure smooth transition into asset operations phase
  • Lead the development O&M documentation, training, policies, and procedures
  • Contribute your experience and skillset to developing operations focused digital applications developed by LIFTE software team for utilization during the operations and maintenance phase

 

Requirements

What Experience & Education is Required?

  • For US: Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis
  • Bachelor’s of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
  • Certification as a high pressure welder, electrician, technician, control systems operator or heavy duty mechanic is an asset
  • Experience working directly with hydrogen technology vendors an asset
  • At least 5 years of hydrogen equipment operations and maintenance experience

Additional Details

  • 20-30% Domestic and International Travel
  • Position is based in the US or Germany
  • Travel to LIFTE offices in Boston once a month for 1-2 days
