Position Summary
Recurrent Energy is seeking an experienced Senior Manager/Manager, Nodal Market and Data Analytics to join the Grid Strategy & Analytics team. The successful candidate will work on highly technical, quantitative, and analytical initiatives and projects, including, but not limited to, power flow analysis, market simulation, locational marginal price (LMP) analysis, renewable integration studies, and evaluating the impact of market rule changes on these forecasts and analyses. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of nodal market operations, power flow analysis experience, and experience working in the renewable energy industry
Responsibilities
- Provide input to the early-stage development process regarding strategic interconnection siting and interconnection facilities
- Perform and automate power flow study and production cost study
- Develop workflows and internal processes, as well as manage relationships with internal customers and external resources
- Represent Recurrent Energy and actively participate at utility and ISO technical policy stakeholder meetings, working groups, and renewable trade groups.
- Train junior engineers in performing technical studies, reviewing and analyzing utility pre-screen reports, System Impact Studies, and Facility Studies.
- Manage external consultants performing interconnection modeling and studies, develop scopes of work, and review study results
Knowledge & Abilities:
- Deep understanding of transmission system and power flow fundamentals, LMP formation, and relevant sensitivities.
- Demonstrated experience with ISO market operations with respect to LMP modeling and working with optimization models, including detailed knowledge of optimization and quantitative methods and data underlying market simulations, power flow, contingency and congestion analysis, unit commitment, and economic dispatch
- Software knowledge: PROMOD, PowerWorld, TARA, PROMOD, PSS/E, PSLF
- Programming language knowledge: Python
- Knowledge of utility system operation and interconnection process
- Knowledge of renewable project development
Education & Requirements:
- A minimum bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (power system emphasis desired), Mathematics, or related quantitative field with strong preference given to candidates with a solid educational background in power systems analysis
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in transmission and market simulation modeling or equivalent experience (may consider candidates with less experience at a lower level)
- Professional with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude
- Comfortable in and excited about working in a dynamic organization
- Strong organizational skills enable the candidate to manage many projects simultaneously
