Job Summary

 

May Mobility is entering an exciting phase of growth and our team is expanding quickly. We are looking for a Manager of Human Resources to provide strategic people leadership to the organization by building the necessary foundation to support our business and people in Japan as we scale. This role will report directly to the Sr. Manager, People (HR) Operations and will partner with the US people operations (HR) team to develop and execute all people operations strategies and needs while providing direct support to our Japan team.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee all dimensions of Human Resources in Japan with a strong emphasis on supporting our recruiting, onboarding, engagement and retention processes as we continue to rapidly grow.
  • Develop and manage all Human Resource systems and programs including recruiting, benefits/compensation, compliance, training. 
  • Create and implement scalable, repeatable processes; including background checks, immigration, onboarding/offboarding, offer letters, documentation/record-keeping, reward/recognition, LOA, etc.
  • Provide strategic Human Resources support to functional teams in areas such as performance management, management training and coaching, organizational development and employee relations.
  • Partner with the Employee Experience Manager to co-create, implement and support employee-centric programs, including engagement surveys, reward and recognition, events, employee engagement etc to help steward a mission and values driven culture full of fun and purpose.
  • Partner with the Internal Communications Manager to develop and implement consistent and clear communication channels for the Japan office and how we communicate with the US team.
  • Partner with the Learning and Development lead to develop content and fully engage the Japan workforce into utilizing the LXP system for all learning and development needs. 
  • Provide local leaders guidance and input on organizational design, talent development and employee engagement in partnership with the Business Partner. 
  • Develop and implement policies and programs that support a positive, diverse, high-performing culture in a fast-growing organization.
  • Support local leadership in annual talent planning and key strategic initiatives.
  • Expert on Japan legal matters including local legislation, insurance, benefits, disability, paid time off, contracts, etc.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years experience with solid knowledge of a broad range of HR policies and processes
  • High degree of comfort in balancing multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative leadership approach
  • Exceptional people management skills, including mentoring and promoting personal growth of direct reports
  • Proven track record of creating solid relationships with internal business partners
  • Very organized and detail oriented
  • Conflict resolution and interpersonal skills
  • Organization skills including project management and scheduling 
  • Total comfort in highly-computerized environments with digital office workflow (e.g. Google suite, Lattice, Greenhouse, HRIS (ADP)
  • Multilingual - Japanese and English

Desirable Qualifications

  • HR certification
  • Human Resource experience in a startup environment (technology, automotive OEM, or tier-1 supplier preferred)
