Director, Biomedical Collaborations

Reporting to the General Manager, Biomedical & Beauty, this role will play a key role in identifying and managing biomedical research collaborations and business development using Modern Meadow's advanced application platforms for the improvement of human health and healing.  

Responsibilities will include analysis of scientific and patent literature, competitive intelligence, financial modeling, and building partnerships to bring biomedical technologies to market, including research, co-development, co-marketing, contract manufacturing, as well as technology licensing and joint ventures. 

Responsibilities: 

• Evaluate research and patent publications and trends across a diversity of biomedical areas and identify collaborative opportunities and competitive threats. 
• Primary and secondary market research to evaluate and validate commercial strategies and opportunities 
• Coordinate outreach to potential collaborators and advisors at academic institutions, healthcare providers, and industry while also identifying commercial partners with complementary capabilities and building ongoing relationships through continuous business development and networking 
• Working with external advisors and clinical research organizations, design and oversee the clinical development of biomedical product candidates and communications with the FDA 
• Assist with scoping potential research projects to advance commercial development of Modern Meadow’s technologies 
• Coordinating with internal research, support internal project teams in developing project charters and project briefs 
• Support the negotiation and execution of non-disclosure, material transfer, and collaborative research agreements 
• Manage and allocation time and resources across an opportunity portfolio pipeline, and inform lifecycle management decisions 
• Support and lead negotiation of research, licensing, co-development, co-marketing agreements and joint ventures, as directed by the General Manager 
• Provide project management for research collaborations, including implementing processes and metrics for tracking progress. 
• Represent Modern Meadow at industry events, symposia, and conferences. 
• Financial and strategic analysis as directed by senior leaders 

Requirements: 

• 1-5 years work experience in technology transfer, business development, or strategy consulting with advanced degree in life sciences; PhD preferred.  
• Demonstrated ability to analyze scientific and technical information 
• Experience working with product development, intellectual property, partnership negotiation, and/or alliance management 
• Demonstrated skill in performing market and competitive research using scientific, commercial, and patent data sources and tools; ability to create and refine search strategies 
• Basic understanding of life science industry and intellectual property law 
• Strong interpersonal, meeting skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams 
• Excellent communications skills both verbal and written 
• Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office
