Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in environmental science or policy, energy markets, or engineering
  • 3+ years’ experience in carbon transition/physical risk-related data analysis and research
  • Deep knowledge of banks and/or insurers climate risk use cases and relevant market trends

Context: Climate change will have a significant impact on every aspect of our economy, threatening the profitability and sustainability of even the most resilient businesses. The effects of this disruption will vary widely across different sectors, representing an existential threat to some and an opportunity for others. Standard approaches and historical data are of little value, which is why OakNorth (ON) are developing an approach — proven in predicting vulnerability to COVID-19 during the pandemic — to help lenders navigate the many complex scenarios resulting from climate change.

 

OakNorth Enterprise (ON) are looking for a Climate Risk Product SME, a domain expert in climate, to come and support our Climate Risk Team in developing our transformational climate risk tool for commercial lenders.

 

There are several essential qualities we are looking for in a great B2B SaaS Product SME candidate.

Thoroughly Understands OakNorth’s SaaS Offering: OakNorth’s Climate Product SME will be deeply involved in the strategic planning and execution of new and existing climate products. Knowledge of our product offering to commercial banks, OakNorth’s primary clientele, is of deep importance. OakNorth’s Senior Product SME will be expected to have knowledge about what our business offers and be the hub of expertise for the entire company regarding the products and services offered around OakNorth’s climate framework.

Remarkable candidates will have the ability to evaluate OakNorth’s offering within the broader context of the SaaS industry and help forge a sustainable vision of how to meet the growing needs of the market considering ever-changing US and global regulation.

 

Deep Knowledge of Customers’ Needs: The expectation of the  Climate Product SME is to use their deep understanding of broad market and customer needs to develop an actionable plan that keeps products innovative and profitable. The SME should be willing to interact with ON Product , Sales and Marketing, and Executive Committee to gain knowledge about customers and their influencers. Knowledge of the customer journey and user experience is paramount for success, as well as being the voice of the customer. In this way, all pieces of OakNorth’s business fit together into an effective product marketing strategy.

 

Realizes Primary responsibilities:

  • To support product teams, distil user needs and wants, and help iterate with rapid prototype inputs
  • To work with Customer Success, Engineering, Sales and Marketing teams to maintain a plan for improving the performance of products
  • To work with Product, Content, Sales and Marketing teams to maintain thought leadership in climate risk space
  • To monitor and evaluate market trends, share periodic reports with product teams

 

Hard and Soft Skills for Success: The role will use a variety of hard and soft skills, the former relating to a candidate’s 3+ years’ experience, postgraduate qualifications, and knowledge of the relevant markets.
