As the challenge to feed the world’s expanding population grows, our mission is to create amazing foods and materials that provide sustainable choices and nurture the planet.We’re looking for passionate, driven, and ambitious people to join our fast-growing team.Role Summary:We are seeking an experienced food scientist to lead initiatives in developing nutritious, high protein snack products using alternative proteins. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working with a range of nutritious, wholesome and clean label ingredients to develop snack foods with high nutritional performance while delivering texture and taste perfection. He/she will lead formulation science and product prototyping from bench-to-pilot, and to plant scale production. In this high visibility role, the position will offer unique opportunity to advance company’s technical abilities in developing new and improving existing products and processes. This means candidate will have demonstrated record of managing cross-functional internal and external project teams, and launching high protein snacks and nutritious bars & convenience foods.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and drive all aspects of product development, starting from bench scale to pilot scale, and to full plant scale production
  • Lead cross-functional teams to plan, resource, prioritize and execute on projects while delivering on agreed milestones and timelines
  • Provide data-driven insights to solve technical challenges and defining critical paths and identifying resource constraints
  • Lead technical workplan to resolve issues in product formulation, prototyping, and manufacturing to ensure products are meeting the highest quality and stability standards
  • Interface with cross-functional R&D, manufacturing, regulatory, marketing and quality teams
  • Prepare project proposals, conduct bench-top and pilot plant trials work and analyze, summarize present scientific outcomes
  • Provide accurate, clear and concise reports on the development activities
  • Champion science-based, data-driven approach to solve complex problems
  • Identify, engage and establish internal and external technical collaborations with the customers, industry and academic partners

Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemical Engineering, Dairy Science, Cereal science, Plant Proteins, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of industry or academic research experience in processing, developing and scaling up of packaged food products
  • Effective communication at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Staying current on industry best practices and current food industry trends
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and project management skills
  • Comfortable working in a start-up environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and influence technical direction
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills required to influence multiple decision makers in senior management
