problem. Tradewater is seeking a full-time Data & Analytics Developer who is passionate about their craft and excited to leverage technology in service of our important mission of fighting climate change.

The Developer will work collaboratively with senior members of the staff to build and improve web applications, use API connections to collect data, and aid in the design of business intelligence tools. They will be a key member of the Engineering & Innovation Department which, in addition to administering our data systems, serves as the thinktank and incubator for projects that diversify or increase our mission impact.

The position is based at our corporate office in the Fulton Market neighborhood of Chicago and reports to the Director of Engineering and Innovation.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Design, develop and maintain databases and web applications
• Harness API connections, cloud computing services and custom code to build and maintain data pipelines
• Work with business stakeholders to define requirements for application features and dashboards
• Design business intelligence dashboards and analytical approaches to gain insights
• Perform data analysis to answer key business questions and inform strategy
• Research and propose opportunities for automation in Tradewater’s business processes
• Develop and maintain excellent documentation on software and dashboards
• Design and deliver training on new application features and dashboards
• Respond to support requests

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related technical field (or equivalent experience)
• 1-3 years experience in a software development, analytics, data science, or data engineering role preferred
• Demonstrated experience working with users and business stakeholders to develop software or analytics requirements
• The ability to communicate complex analysis results clearly and effectively, especially to nontechnical audiences

• Extensive experience with relational databases and SQL
• Experience using Python for data analysis (especially the NumPy, Pandas, matplotlib libraries)
• Experience using public REST/SOAP APIs
• Experience using Github for basic version control
• Experience with cloud computing tools (AWS, Google Cloud Platform) preferred
• Experience with Sisense, PowerBI, Tableau or a similar business intelligence tool preferred
• Experience with web development, use of developer tools, and JavaScript preferred
• Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management software is a plus
• Highly organized, capable of juggling multiple projects at once, independent learner, and creative
• Natural curiosity and a willingness to learn new skills, programming languages, packages and tools as needed
