At tozero, we’re pioneering sustainable lithium-ion battery recycling to recover essential materials like lithium, nickel, cobalt, and graphite. Our goal is to create a scalable recycling solution that powers a circular battery economy, reducing resource waste and environmental impact.

Since our launch in 2022, we’ve made rapid progress. After securing €3.5 million in pre-seed funding, we built our prototype plant in Munich. Now, with an additional €11 million seed round, we’re on the path to full-scale production. ABOUT THE ROLE
As our
Business Development Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving our growth strategy and expanding our market presence. You will be responsible for leading a team of hustlers, managing sales personnel, and establishing and nurturing strategic partnerships. Your focus will be on creating compelling product value propositions, implementing effective sales strategies, and driving commercial success. Your leadership will be crucial in integrating value chains and enhancing our position in the industry. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Lead Business Development Initiatives: Drive the strategic direction for business development, focusing on partnerships that enhance value chain integration.

  • Team Leadership: Manage and inspire a team of hustlers and sales professionals, fostering a high-performance culture focused on achieving ambitious growth targets.

  • Sales Strategy Development: Create and implement a commercial sales machine that captures market opportunities and drives revenue growth.

  • Negotiation and Deal-Making: Utilize your shark negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and conditions that align with our business objectives.

  • Sales Process Development: Establish commercial sales/partnership processes and reporting mechanisms to track performance metrics, optimize sales strategies, and enhance decision-making.

  • Commodity Passion: Bring a love of commodities to the table, thinking creatively about business models and strategies that can propel our go-to-market efforts into customer and industry markets.

  • Track and Report Metrics: Monitor and report on KPIs related to business development initiatives, providing insights and recommendations to the leadership team.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Experience: Proven track record in business development, sales, or related roles, with significant experience in scale-up startups, preferably within the tech sector.

  • B2B Relationship Management: Strong experience in building and maintaining B2B relationships, with the ability to navigate complex sales cycles.

  • Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering collaboration and a results-driven environment.

  • Strategic Mindset: Creative thinker with the ability to develop attractive product value propositions and innovative approaches to business challenges.

  • Analytical Skills: Proficient in market analysis, financial modeling, and reporting.

  • Deep Tech Understanding: Familiarity with the deep tech landscape, particularly in relation to battery recycling and sustainable solutions.
