Position Overview:

As the Global Lead for Crude Trading Analysis, you will oversee the strategic management, analysis, and quality control of global crude supply and flows data. This role requires a deep understanding of oil market dynamics, strong client management skills, and the ability to lead product innovations that align with market needs. Additionally, you will manage a team of three analysts (two senior analysts and one analyst), guiding their work and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. The successful candidate will act as a key representative for the Oil Markets team across various external and internal channels.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Market Analysis & Industry Insights

  • Lead the generation of analysis and insights related to short-term and medium-term oil market trends, bringing fresh, data-driven perspectives on market drivers.
  • Act as a leading industry voice, recognized for unique insights into oil market developments and dynamics.
  • Propose timely, high-impact research topics and coordinate with internal stakeholders to engage the right contributors and ensure quick turnaround.
  • Stay actively engaged with short-term oil market events, providing prompt analysis and insights as needed to address real-time market shifts.

 

2. Data & Analytics Oversight

  • Manage and oversee the integrity of crude supply and flow datasets, ensuring that data cubes, dashboards, and analytics reflect accurate and timely information.
  • Quality control all crude-related analytics, aligning outputs with Oil Trading Solution messaging for consistency and strategic alignment.

 

3. Team Leadership & Empowerment

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of analysts , fostering a high-performance environment that encourages independent thought and innovation.
  • Empower analysts to take ownership of their analysis, supporting them to develop and present independently driven insights while ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively to build team expertise, provide strategic guidance, and secure impactful outcomes from each team member.

4. Market Representation & Client Engagement

  • Serve as a lead representative of the Oil Markets team with clients, media, and internal stakeholders, providing expertise on crude market dynamics.
  • Address and manage all client queries regarding crude, fostering trust and ensuring clarity in data-driven insights.

 

5. Product Development & Innovation

  • Lead the design and enhancement of crude-related products, identifying opportunities for innovative solutions to meet client needs and market trends.

 

6. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build and manage key relationships with Upstream Global Quality Controls for supply releases, contributing insights and support to cross-team collaborations.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with OPEC, participating in workshops and liaising with the OPEC secretariat on strategic initiatives.

 

7. Industry Engagement

  • Represent the organization at conferences and flagship events, contributing to brand presence and thought leadership in the oil market ecosystem.
  • Participate in podcasts, news interviews, and other media engagements, providing insight and analysis on crude oil markets.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in crude trading analysis, data management, and market analysis.
  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and high-level client interactions.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership, with experience presenting in conferences and media outlets.
  • Fluency in Python, modeling, and SQL querying for effective data analysis and automation.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, clients, and industry bodies.
  • Experience managing and mentoring a team to ensure high-quality performance, professional development, and empowerment for independent contributions.
  • Desired: Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline.
