The Buildings & Industrial Technology Group within the Energy Systems and Infrastructure Analysis (ESIA) Division at Argonne is seeking to hire a staff member to conduct research in energy systems with a primary focus on building technologies including building science, building energy modeling, HVAC and associated equipment design and analysis, and future climate and weather modeling.
Conduct interdisciplinary research in building energy modeling, building science, HVAC design, and climate/weather modeling.
Develop strategic insights and/or guidance for various project stakeholders through presentations, workshops, and seminars.
Communicate the outcomes of the research through internal and public reports, peer-reviewed publications, and scientific conferences.
Position Requirements
Ph.D. (or equivalent) in architecture, architectural engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering or related fields.
Experience in building science, building energy modeling, and related building energy data analysis.
Knowledge of both experimental methods and modeling techniques in building science, HVAC systems, and climate and weather.
Experience developing modeling and analysis tools in Python.
Skilled in oral and written communication as evidenced by a strong record in academic publications and conference presentations.
Ability to model Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the DOE National Laboratory System.
Experience working in multidisciplinary research environments.
