Job Description

We’re hiring for a Business Development Manager on our supply team that will bring new, quality carbon projects to the Pachama platform, ensuring carbon finance goes to projects providing real climate benefits. This new role will own and grow our commercial relationships with partners who have existing forest carbon projects. You will not only help to educate new project partners on the Pachama platform, but also help close critical commercial deals, and build relationships with project proponents. Our ideal candidates have existing experience in carbon markets or forest carbon projects as well as strong business development experience and the drive to create partnerships.
The new role will be a key member of Pachama’s supply team and work globally with project proponents including communities, project developers, and large NGOs.  The position will report to the VP of Operations.
Location.Pachama is an entirely remote team. For this role, being within 3 hours of Pacific time is preferred for this role given cross-functional communication responsibilities. Under normal conditions, this role requires travel.

Responsibilities

  • Own and command Pachama’s messaging and value proposition for project proponents and developers including understanding Pachama’s technology
  • Successfully execute commercial agreements to grow the number of carbon projects listed on the Pachama platform
  • Grow relationships with existing partners, support execution of large ongoing deals and deepen partnership opportunities
  • Negotiate and design new commercial deal types

Experiences and skills we're looking for

  • Previous experience with forest carbon projects or development
  • Previous experience in business development or sales with large organizations
  • Quota-carrying experience or a strong record of metrics based performance
  • Willingness to be scrappy and grow alongside a start-up
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Drive for impact and resonance with our mission
  • Nice to have includes conversant in Spanish or Portuguese
