Job Description:

Your responsibilities:

  • You will ensure the portfolio of contracts in the business follows contract and claim management methodologies in accordance with internal standard procedures.  

  • You will review, comment on commercial, technical tender terms and conditions, develop contract strategy based on Hitachi’s policies, customer requirements, and the overall execution strategy taking into account risk, pricing, scope, and schedule.  

  • You will identify the contract baseline (including terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimate, proposal, schedule and other documents incorporated in the contract) and highlights areas of potential risk, ensure timely and accurate execution of commercial aspects in portfolio of contracts (i.e. payments, claims, variation orders, warranties, provisions, guarantees, etc.). 

  • You will verify that both parties to the contract have fulfilled their contractual obligations and there are no responsibilities outstanding, assess success of the contract and determine if there are any lessons learned for future contracting.

  • You will involve in document and communicate to all appropriate parties any deficiencies found as part of the closeout process, establish and enforce standard change methodologies in portfolio of contracts to identify change and quantify the additional time and compensation due to Hitachi per the contract, defines approval requirements and communicates changes to the customer.  

  • You will enforce and defend Hitachi's contractual interests against customer and suppliers during the whole of a project life cycle, including monitoring and assessment of changes and deviations, as well as defending and enforcing claims. In concert with Legal and you will develop the negotiation strategy and support negotiation, support Legal handling formal dispute resolution, litigation and arbitration, notify and liaise with Legal to report major claim and keep Legal updated of any critical development during project execution.  

  • You will support drafting of Purchase Orders, contract, subcontract and ensure that relevant (sub) contracts contain appropriate contract terms to protect Hitachi’s interest, including flow-down of main contract terms, analyze prime contract terms to highlight areas of potential opportunity and risk, such as ambiguities, omissions and conflicts, as work proceeds.  

  • You will seek advice from Legal to draft, negotiate and finalize agreements during the Sales and Project Execution phases, develop and implement risk mitigation and opportunity plan in concert with Project Manager and/or Sales Manager or FES Manager. You will ensure contract insurance provisions are adhered to and coordinates with Insurance Risk Management regarding occurrences that may be covered by customer or Hitachi provided insurance.  

  • You will seek advice from Legal (Export Control) to ensure accurate handling of all export control matters and ensure close review of all contracts and projects with regard to restrictions on exports, considering countries, customers or products involved and the respective Hitachi regulations.

Your background:

  • You hold bachelor's degree.

  • Knowledge of relevant local contracting standards and international standards.

  • 10 to 5 years in a Contract Management role (or similar), preferably with an EPC or major electrical manufacturer and supplier.

  • Legal or QS background will be looked highly upon but not essential.

  • Individual contributor using in-depth knowledge in a specific area to execute complex or specialized projects / challenges often thinking independently to challenge traditional solutions. 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of related disciplines in the organization. 

  • Very good communication & networking & drafting skills. 

  • Works independently, applying established standards.

  • Dynamic and Proactive, willing to grow in the organization.

  • Team player, ready to play the role across the different countries.

  • High level of ownership.
