Summary:

The Asset Management Analytics (AMA) Team provides insights to asset reliability, resiliency, risk, threat, and spatial situational awareness.  The team works with various datasets, analytical tools & techniques, and visualization products. In collaboration with many teams across the company the AMA team enables PGE to identify where and what actions will increase PGE’s ability to provide reliable, safe, clean, and affordable energy to customers. Core activities and areas of focus for the AMA Team include but are not limited to; using industry standard methodology for reliability analysis and reporting; collecting, integrating, and engineering data sets from a variety of sources; performing complex reliability, geospatial, and statistical based analysis; automating and creating tools that support analysis; developing reports, dashboards, and spatial visualizations.

The Operational Analyst role is responsible for gathering, curating, maintaining, and analyzing data primarily using SQL.  The position requires producing visualizations, mainly using Tableau, that facilitate self-service and auto refreshing. It further requires communicating insights on a variety of subjects to a broad group of stake holders at varying levels of complexity.  The position will support core business efforts critical to meet Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) required reliability data management, analysis, and reporting. This position will help increase the AMA team’s efficiency in responding to requests and provide advanced reliability data analysis at a higher frequency. An example of an emerging need is to provide customer centric reliability metrics to PGE’s customer organizations to help focus on efforts that impact customer reliability.

The position requires expertise working with data, databases, querying, visualization.  Specifically, the individual in this role will have to become expert in IEEE reliability metrics and data analysis methodologies.  Technically this position will need to be able to work with Tableau dashboards, in Snowflake, ESRI GIS, and other database/data platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Specialization Typically provides department analytical support.
  • Reporting Develops and runs reports in response to identified business needs. Decides which data is needed. May pull data from multiple systems. Develops reporting format to meet user needs using data and visuals in response to business needs. May provide data for compliance reporting. Ensures data security and integrity.
  • Strategy and Planning May provide data and analysis to support development of department metrics and long-range planning. May use data to recommend new or modified operational performance metrics.
  • Data Management Depending on specialty area assigned, may track data related to budget, position management and/or operational performance metrics. May administer database or other data repository. Identifies systems issues and decides which to escalate. May obtain data from external studies or sources. May do some system or database coding or configuration depending on position.
  • Analysis Analyzes data from multiple sources to develop operational metrics. Conducts benchmarking and identifies differences. Creates visuals and other means to explain data trends. Identifies and explains data trends, assumptions and anomalies. Identifies risks and recommends mitigation strategies.
  • Consulting Responds to department information requests and suggests additional data to meet business needs. Identifies gaps in data, metrics or processes. Develops and tracks progress toward metrics. Recommends operational process improvements. Determines which data is needed to respond to business requests for information.
  • Projects and Initiatives Supports projects by determining which data is needed and providing it to appropriate subject matter experts. May lead department data-driven projects.

Qualifications     

Required:

  • Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, statistics, psychology or other related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience Typically two or more years in statistics, finance, process improvement, project management or related field.

Preferred:

  • Intermediate knowledge of statistics, metrics and data (e.g., correlation coefficients, etc.)
  • Intermediate skills working with SQL querying.
  • Intermediate skills in data modelling
  • Intermediate skills in data management
  • Intermediate skills in using analytic tools
  • Intermediate skills using data systems specific to department including Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, and ESRI GIS.
  • Working skills in managing competing priorities Intermediate skills in synthesizing information and complex data and communicating to diverse audiences Intermediate knowledge of PGE’s operational practices Intermediate skills in project management Intermediate knowledge of data integrity and security
  • Working skills in data visualization and presenting data to diverse audiences, mainly using Tableau
  • Working knowledge of statistics
  • Working customer focus skills

Physical Capabilities

  • Driving/travel/commute: Daily within service territory - Frequently (at least once a week or more)
  • Computer use (use computer regularly for entire work shift)

PGE supports hybrid flexible work arrangements; and will have a combination of in-the-office and working offsite. However, these arrangements may change due to business needs or changes in responsibility.

Compensation Range:

$72,900.00 - $121,500.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
