Job Description

The Project
ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel - Stage 2, Sydney's third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.

Project scope includes:

  • Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction

  • Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels

  • Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway


The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a self-motivated and proactive Control Systems Engineer to join the WHT Plant Management Control System (PMCS) Team. In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of various plant control systems throughout the delivery life cycle from design and development through to testing and commissioning.

Specific Tasks Include

  • Lead the delivery of tunnel plant management control systems.
  • Review design documentation to verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Lead and oversee the development of PLC software to meet requirements and achieve seamless integration with interfaces (i.e. SCADA, end field devices, vendor packages, adjacent motorways).
  • Preparation of test documentation to validate hardware and software specifications.
  • Execution of factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) in accordance with test documentation.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Tertiary Qualification in Engineering or similar.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, development, testing and commissioning of control systems for large infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and systems engineering principles.
  • PLC programming, preferably Siemens TIA Portal.
  • Configuration of field devices (gateways, network switches, drives, etc.)
