Mission Statement:

Perform and support Test and Commissioning Engineering duties and tasks for Power Quality and eMobility Projects with medium to high complexity within the Australia / New Zealand and wider Asia region. Ensure completion of all Project test & commissioning and Field Service Activities efficiently, in accordance with Hitachi Energy’s Field Quality Plan, Inspection and Test Plans, Contract Specifications, Quality & Safety Requirements.

Deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers. In close co-operation with customer and other Hitachi Energy teams.

Your responsibility:

  • You will lead, plan and perform complex commissioning activities related to Transmission Substations, Power Electronics, including shunt and series connected compensation (e.g. Capacitor Banks, SVCs, STATCOMs, Series Compensators), Power Conversion (e.g. SFCs, Load Balancers, Grid Interties) and eMobility (DC Charging). Provides technical contribution to tendering, planning and implementation of commissioning activities for tenders and projects.
  • You will create/review technical documentation, such as test plans, test specifications, procedures, and test reports (ITP’s, ITC’s, CMP’s etc.).
  • You will perform medium to high complex Service tasks like installation, maintenance, upgrades and retrofits, repair independently, identifies technical problems and makes analysis through remote or on-site activity in different Service categories. Provides technical contribution to planning and implementation of field services such as problem identification, field service activities at site. Supports and coordinates the service activities with the Installation Supervisor / Site Manager/ Customer.
  • You will be studying and understanding the project contract specifications. Creates work plans and cost estimates in area of responsibility. Manages the implementation of the plan. Planning and control the overall site field service activities to meet the deadline to the customer’s fullest satisfaction by executing Service work according to customer order and expectation. Site coordination with third party testing agencies/service Engineers at site as and when required.
  • You will conduct risk and opportunity assessments to ensure implementation of field service plan, identifies and reports potential risks related to contract/quality/program/cost and recommends resolutions to management. Initiates and monitors risk mitigation plan in one’s area of responsibility and ensures stakeholders are updated on associated technical risks.
  • You will create and maintain a good relationship with customers and understands their needs. Identifies new sales opportunities and takes influence in convincing the client for the complete service portfolio. Customers Coordination for site activities. Identifies and recommends new effective solutions to meet system/ customer requirements. Provides relevant information pertaining to service assignments and meetings with customer.
  • You will proactively identify potential equipment failures and proactive corrective actions. Troubleshoots complex equipment failure and makes recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future. Identify and propose resolution/rectification of design related issues which have been gathered from the past projects to be addressed to reduce the site man-hours at upcoming project sites.
  • You will attend product FAT inspection at vendor/supplier’s factory as business technical representative whenever applicable and required. Operational excellence proactively identifies suggestions for product, quality and customer service improvement and discusses them with management for change implementation.
  • You will be reviewing tender specifications and provide support to Sales and Tendering functions in developing plans, schedule and costs associated related to area of responsibility.  Provide technical support in customer meetings.
  • You will use standard processes to ensure all activities comply with required safety regulations, contractual requirements, and international standards. Applies and improves processes and tools in one’s technical area to ensure effective project delivery. Lesson learnt and RCA to be prepared for any incident which is related to field services that needs to be circulated among the relevant stakeholders/ team members. Consistently applies functional processes considering links with other teams.
  • You must ensure the service works undertaken follow and comply with company health, safety, environmental and sustainability policies.

Your background:

  • Tertiary qualified in Electrical Engineering Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • Current Queensland or other Australian State Electrical License, with possibility to obtain QLD Electrical license.
  • 8+ years (Substations, Power Quality/ FACTS Field Services (Problem Identification, Installation, Testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, maintenance, extensions, replacements, upgrades and retrofit, end of life service etc.).
  • Proficiency with primary and secondary system testing utilizing ddiscrete and integrated test equipment such as Omicron, Doble, Megger.
  • Previous experience in testing and commissioning lead roles for greenfield/brownfield electrical transmission and distribution substations.
  • Local Australian Utility experience and training will be highly regarded.
  • Proficient use of MS Office - Word, Excel.
