Director of R&D Facilities

Job Brief

We are looking for a Director of Facilities to provide leadership to our facilities team, and drive Twelve’s facility strategy through high growth. The ideal candidate is someone with experience in building out research and/or manufacturing facilities -- capable of thinking and planning strategically with a long-term outlook, while leading a team to execute on near-term projects and ensure seamless daily operations.

What You Will Do

• Develop Twelve’s long-term facility strategy aligned with R&D, pilot manufacturing, and capital project roadmaps
• Plan strategically for facility expansions and lead the site selection process, to meet the the current and anticipated needs of each team
• Manage the teams that enable R&D operations (facilities engineering, EH&S and lab services), and provide team leadership and mentorship
• Collaborate with Finance to plan near-term and long-term facility and operational budgets
• Oversee multiple tenant improvement projects for Twelve’s developing technology, responding to dynamic requirements

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a related field
• You have 10+ years of experience managing R&D facilities and have direct experience overseeing build-out projects
• You understand code compliance, EH&S requirements, and able to quantify facility risks
• You operate with high agility, and can navigate through uncertainty and ambiguity - you love and thrive in a startup environment where change is constant
• You can make a reasonable estimation when information is limited (back-of-the-envelope calculation), and be precise when it comes to timelines, budgets and project plans
• You communicate clearly and proactively, and are adept at working with multiple stakeholders
