Job Description

Twelve is a new kind of chemical company built for the climate era. Our breakthrough technology eliminates emissions by turning CO2 into essential products. We are a team of scientists, engineers and problem solvers on a mission to fundamentally shift the way the world addresses climate change and lead the transition to a fossil free future with our carbon transformation technology.

Job Brief

As a Prototyping Engineer, you will be responsible for selecting, installing and commissioning new equipment to improve Twelve’s materials synthesis and fabrication infrastructure. You will develop and prototype new test equipment and methods as well as maintain existing infrastructure. In this role, you will work on projects in collaboration with other teams at Twelve across various disciplines to improve our equipment and processes for making CO2 electrolyzers. An ideal candidate will have strong technical fundamentals underpinning a drive to solve problems - they will be (almost) as comfortable working in a lab as their kitchen table electronics bench.

  • Collaborate with research, process development, and scale-up teams to identify needs and propose engineering solutions
  • Install and commission lab and scale-up equipment
  • Support and modify both prototype and off the shelf equipment
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation such as wiring diagrams, P&IDs, BoMs, SOPs etc.
  • Participate in equipment and process safety reviews and promote a culture of workplace safety
  • Investigate and validate new characterization techniques through the use of sensors, hardware, and test methodologies

Who you are

  • You have a degree in a STEM field with at least 1 year of relevant experience
  • You have the ability to refine broad problems and asks into actionable engineering solutions
  • You have strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and collaborative environment
  • You are curious and always learning
  • You have hands-on experience designing and building equipment:
    • Working in a laboratory environment with some of the following: compressed gasses, vacuum systems, and equipment such as heaters, chillers, pumps, etc.
    • Selecting and installing appropriate valves, tubing, wire, and connectors
    • Selecting and installing electromechanical components such as linear actuators and motors
    • Experienced in the use of hand and power tools and familiar with machining and fabrication methods
    • Experienced in CAD (Inventor or Fusion 360 preferred) for the design and fabrication of custom parts

Twelve Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Paid sick days and vacation
  • Competitive salary and equity compensation commensurate with experience
  • Diverse and inclusive work environment
