Job Description

Resonant Link is building best-in-class wireless chargers to unlock electrification by recharging vehicles during operation to extend range and shrink on-board batteries. Since our founding, we’ve landed leading customers in multiple multi-billion-dollar markets like robotics, material handling, and electric vehicles (including 4 Fortune 500 companies) to power their mission-critical applications. Resonant Link’s wireless chargers are 5x faster and 10x lower $/W than our competitors.

About the role:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Resonant Link, you will have ownership of the ground-up design, development, prototyping, testing, validation and manufacturing of the mechanical systems of our best-in-class wireless chargers. You will design thermal management strategies that enable power-dense integration of high-power electronics and magnetics in a sealed system to enable safe, robust, and efficient wireless charging.

On an average day, you’ll...

  • Make key architectural decisions for power-dense wireless chargers for the world’s most demanding applications and critical customers.
  • Solve electronics packaging challenges at the intersection of thermal management, electrical isolation, sealing, interconnection, and shock and vibration management.
  • Model and design mechanical components and assemblies consisting of plastics, sheet metal, heat sinks, insulation systems, magnetic components, fasteners, and more.
  • Conduct mechanical design analysis including thermal, CFD, structural, design for assembly, and design for test.
  • Work closely with our world-leading power electronics, magnetics and embedded software team to converge on integration solutions for multiple subsystems.
  • Perform component and product-level testing on latest prototypes
  • Source and collaborate with domestic and overseas suppliers

Requirements

  • Strong thermal, solid mechanics, and fluid mechanics first-principle knowledge.
  • Experience leading design, development, and launch of mechanical systems, including sealed enclosures and thermal management systems, from concept through production.
  • 3D CAD experience (Creo preferred). Surfacing and multibody exposure are beneficial.
  • Experience designing packaging for electronics and/or electromagnetic components.
  • Experience with high-reliability environments, including automotive, and associated reliability, safety, and industry standards.

Who we’re looking for:

  • You are an independent problem solver excited to tackle high-impact engineering challenges.
  • You find the experience of converting ideas into reality rewarding.
  • You have an appetite to continuously learn new things to overcome significant technical obstacles.
  • You are motivated by the opportunity to work at a dynamic startup company where your contributions will have an outsized impact on our products, customers, and culture.
  • You are respectful, empathetic, honest, and energetic.

The team you will be joining:

The mechanical team works across all projects to deliver hands-on and manufacturing know-how and realize the full potential of Resonant Link innovation. We are critically reliant on our team members’ ownership, creativity, technical rigor, and collaboration to deliver on our first-of-their-kind power electronics. Our greater engineering team, which has quadrupled in less than a year, includes Electrical, Mechanical, Embedded, and Magnetics engineers with PhDs from Berkeley, Dartmouth, ETH Zurich, Michigan, and Stanford and experience at Tesla, Apple, iRobot, and Harvard Medical School. You will learn from world-class experts inside and outside the organization, with technical leaders and partners engaged and accessible every week at Resonant Link.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and generous stock options
  • Paid holidays (including a week off at new year) and an unlimited vacation policy
  • The flexibility to work anywhere and a home office stipend.
  • Affordable health and dental options.
  • Generous paid parental and family leave
  • Learning/career development investment in your professional and personal growth including hiring outside mentors, professional development courses, and more
  • Company outings & team retreats (post-pandemic!)

Who we are:

Resonant Link accelerates electrification by Powering Fleets While They Work, integrating our fast wireless chargers into the stops that already exist during fleet operation (think pick stations for robots or loading docks for forklifts). Developed in close partnership with our customers and enabled by fundamental breakthroughs in electromagnetics and power electronics, Resonant Link’s wireless chargers are 5x faster and 10x lower $/W than our competitors.

Resonant Link is based in Vermont and California and our investors & partners include the National Science Foundation, the Department of Defense, Cyclotron Road / Activate, Stanford, Dartmouth, Urban Us, Scout Ventures and others.

Resonant Link is an equal opportunity employer and includes “Together is Better” as a core value. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. Please do not hesitate to apply if you see yourself contributing even if you don’t check every box. Help us build an inclusive community that will change the future of wireless charging.
