Job Description

WHO WE ARE

Asset Resolution (AR)'s vision is of a financial sector that empowers the global economy to take decisive action in line with the climate transition. Our mission is to optimize the accessibility and use of physical asset-level data for climate analysis by financial institutions.

Our data-driven solutions help our clients analyse the alignment of their financial portfolios with low-carbon scenarios, assess financial portfolios' and companies' transition and physical risks, quantify our clients' financed emissions, and develop bespoke climate analyses for financial institutions. Our clients include large global organisations such as users of the PACTA (Paris Agreement Capital Transition Assessment) tool applied by over 1,000 financial institutions, PwC in its Climate Excellence Tool, and Barclays in its BlueTrackTM tool.

Our clients access our data products through subscription licensing. We currently deliver data via flat files, and we are developing an API.

ABOUT THIS POSITION

As a Full Stack Developer at Asset Resolution, your primary responsibility will be to design and build an API which allows our clients to access our data offerings easily and securely. Additionally, the backend should track metadata to report on the flow of data for the product and business development teams to use in everyday decision making.

We are looking for a skilled developer who loves to create robust applications and wants to take a project from conception to final product. We are looking for someone who embraces a start-up mentality and is excited to take on new challenges as we discover them. Our ideal candidate will have experience as an Agile scrum master / team lead.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for connecting our clients with our data, first with an API and then later with potential web applications designed to use the API. You will need to be able to handle all parts of the process, ranging from design to implementation. Besides some minor requirements, you will have complete control over your tech stack. We have an Azure hosted PostgreSQL database that we will be replacing with a data warehouse (DW) over the next year. At first, you will design an API proof of concept using this database, but after you will be heavily involved in the DW design decisions and will have a large say on which technologies are used. Some example challenges that might arise include designing usage tracking systems, managing user authentication and permissions, aligning with security standards of typical financial institutions, and writing documentation.

Once primary construction of the API is complete, you will help implement our product roadmap. For example, you will:
  • Update and maintain the API
  • Design a front-end data access platform
  • Help develop an internal data QA platform
  • Help update and maintain the DW
You will work closely with the rest of our team to resolve issues across many domains, beyond ordinary application development tasks. Some examples include helping write documentation, managing our Azure instance, and evaluating new technologies for inclusion into our stack.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Preferred skills
- Experience with PostgreSQL
- Development of strong testing infrastructure

- Full-time.
- Paris or Berlin in-person (or partially remote).

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN US

We are a data-driven start-up. We were established in 2018 in Paris and work globally. We are expanding rapidly to support the growing needs of financial institutions and our ever-growing database includes 300,000+ physical assets across the largest carbon emitting sectors and covers 55,000+ companies linked to 20,000+ financial securities. For each asset and company in the database we offer a suite of forward-looking climate-relevant indicators including location, production capacity, production, emissions intensity, and emissions. We offer access to this unparalleled dataset through bespoke data products, and we are developing analytical solutions to turn this data into information through, for example, scenario analysis and physical risk analysis.

We offer you
  • A dynamic team of data scientists, analysts, sustainable finance specialists, and developers passionate about the climate transition.
  • A young company that spun off from the 2° Investing Initiative, a leading international, non-profit think tank working to align financial markets and regulations with the Paris Agreement goals.
  • A small organization that is rapidly growing, providing a lot of opportunities to get hands-on experience, make your voice heard and help shape our future.
  • A mission that brings together technology and impact.
  • Flexibility in terms of working hours and location.
