Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) has the fastest, lowest cost path to commercial fusion energy.CFS is collaborating with MIT to leverage decades of research combined with new groundbreaking high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology. HTS magnets will enable compact fusion power plants that can be constructed faster and at lower cost. To execute this plan, we are looking to add talented people to the team who are mission-driven and treat people well, improve our team by adding diverse perspectives and new ways of solving problems, have demonstrated exceptional results through a range of different pursuits, and have skill sets and experience that relate to this role.Our company is looking for an organized and self-motivated office administrator who will be responsible for providing administrative support to our office personnel. The office administrator’s role will include working closely with our leadership team by handling administrative duties, coordinating calendars, and organizing meetings. We are looking for this individual to provide detail-oriented office administration to facilitate daily operations within the office space and support for a growing team which includes Commonwealth Fusion Systems and MIT employees (i.e. SPARC team). In order to be successful in this position you should be detail-oriented, professional and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This team member will:

  • Coordinate staff schedules to set up interoffice meetings and logistics (catering, conference rooms, etc.)
  • Meeting management
  • Greeting and shepherding guests to appropriate meetings rooms
  • Liaison for new employees and contractors
  • Initial contact and liaison for IT issues
  • Ordering/maintaining office supplies for multiple office locations
  • Refreshing coffee station and maintaining kitchen supplies (daily)
  • Planning company events, dinners, and other activities

The ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of these requirements:

  • B.A / B.S degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in administrative support roles
  • 2+ years’ experience of meeting management: scheduling, onsite or remote set-up, note taking
  • 2+ years’ experience of event planning and management
  • The ability to assimilate different and diverse demands into a coherent support plan
  • The perspective to accommodate multiple requests for support and prioritize appropriately
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Positive, professional, and enthusiastic attitude and the ability to receive constructive feedback
  • Skill in administrative office tools, such as MS 365 software, Google Workspaces, Zoom, Workflowy, Expensify, ERP systems
  • Ability to thrive in an startup research and development environment that is continuously evolving
