Argonne’s Sustainable Transportation Education & Partnerships (STEP) Department seeks applicants for a Technology Integration Project Specialist to develop and implement energy and transportation projects that support workforce development, community and industrial engagement, and strengthen energy and economic security across the nation.

The Technology Integration Project Specialist  will utilize their technical and project management expertise to develop and implement clean energy and transportation projects for the U.S. Department of Energy and other sponsors from project initiation through delivery, coordinating as required with community and industrial stakeholders, and with work performed in other divisions and national laboratories, to help accelerate adoption of advanced transportation and energy technologies in communities across the nation.

In this position, the candidate would support workforce and community engagement projects within the STEP portfolio with a focus on overall project coordination and planning, tracking and management of deliverables and action items, and coordinating payment processes between Argonne financial and procurement teams, external vendors, and entities such as non-profits, educational institutions, contractors, and other participants in our workforce programs.

The selected candidate will also help research and prepare grants, develop and implement training, collect and measure impact data, prepare and present results at conferences, and support STEP staff in executing several in-person and virtual workshops with program participants throughout the year.

Position Requirements

  • Technical expertise in environmental science, social sciences or related fields.

  • Experience in project management, including tracking project schedules and budgets and meeting project goals and objectives.

  • Ability to closely track and move forward processes between internal and external entities.

  • Oral and written communication skills, including professional presentations and technical writing.

  • Skill in leadership, time management and working as a team member.

  • Skill in MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint computer software.

  • Ability to model Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.

  • Ability to make our laboratory a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and accessible environment where all can thrive.

  • Onsite presence is required.

The selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level (PT2 or PT3) depending upon depth and breadth of relevant knowledge, skills, and experience brought to the position.  The requirements for the desired levels are as follows:

  • PT2: Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of experience, Masters and 0+ years of experience, or equivalent.

  • PT3: Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of experience, Masters and 2+ years of experience, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with energy, batteries or transportation technologies.

  • Experience in community organization, engagement and implementation or workforce development.

  • Skills in collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports and data visualization.

  • Experience with financial processes and contracting documentation, including payments and statements of work, grant writing and preparation.

  • Experience in fundraising and interacting with external sponsors.

  • Experience working at non-profit or government organizations.

  • Experience with project management tools such as Asana, Microsoft Project, etc.
