Job Description Summary:
As Operational Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our wind assets installed throughout the UK. This is done through site access control, controlled handover of plant and regular monitoring and reporting of the asset’s performance. As well as ensuring the safety of the in-house and external workers who operate and maintain our wind turbines and associated plant.

Currently focussed on Nadara’s UK assets, as the Control Centre team continues to grow, there will be opportunity to become involved in the wider European business.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
Site Access and Work Control
- Using the telephone and specialist software, ensure all visitors to site are booked on and off site, whilst ensuring any essential information is communicated clearly and effectively to them
- Maintain and check induction records for any visitors to site
- Implement emergency response procedures in the event of an incident
- Ensure all work that is carried out on site is carried out by persons authorised to do so
- Perform the role of Operational Controller under the Wind Turbine Safety Rules
- Manage Day-to-Day Work Control performing the role of Operational Controller under the Wind Turbine Safety Rules
- Work with Asset Managers to ensure safe daily wind farm operations
- Maintain up to date Wind Turbine Safety Rules documentation and work control records
- Interface with National Grid, transmission and distribution network operators regarding grid outages and curtailments
Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitoring wind farms via a variety of SCADA systems, and ensuring the appropriate response is delivered to faults and alarms
- Monitor weather forecast systems and issue alerts as required
- Participate in the creation of daily, weekly and monthly reports on the wind assets performance and status
- Retrieval and checking of energy export data
Health Safety Quality and Environment
- Act as the first point of contact for any health and safety related near misses or incidents on site, escalating and reporting on these matters as required
- Handle and respond to emergency calls from wind farm personnel and members of the public
- Log all incoming Engineering Change Requests, ensuring no unauthorised plant modifications are carried out
- Work to strict Control Centre procedures
- Contribute to Continuous Improvement and Development of Control Centre services and processes
Other / Future Progression / Opportunities
- Tracking and reporting on key operational KPIs, allowing benchmarking of the various turbine OEMs
- Analysing and reporting on wind asset performance, highlighting recurrent trends and issues
- Analysing wind turbine power performance, with deviations from the warranted power curve being escalated
Qualifications, Training & Professional Memberships
A qualification in a technical discipline would be advantageous although not essential.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in engineering or renewable energy is preferred but not essential
- Ideally possess knowledge and experience gained from within the wind industry. However, full training will be offered to candidates
- Telephone handling experience – experience of handling high volume calls
- Experience of working in a procedure driven environment
Skills
- A highly motivated, team player, who is dedicated and flexible enough to ensure a first-class operational service
- Strong numeracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and exceptional attention to detail.
- IT Skills with a high level knowledge of Microsoft Office along with the ability to learn new and bespoke software packages

Working closely with asset management, engineering and external stakeholders to offer the very best in service and advice on asset performance.
