High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology is used for energy transmission over long distances and to connect electricity networks with minimal losses. In addition to energy transfer, HVDC technology can also alleviate electrical quality problems and can contribute to the stabilization of connected power grids for offshore wind power or long-distance underground / underwater transmissions. Hitachi Energy is a leading supplier of HVDC solutions globally and has an exciting Corporate Education Engineer or Professional Work Experience Internship opportunity, primarily working at the East West Interconnector (EWIC) HVDC Link at Portan Converter Station, along with other Hitachi Energy HVDC customer sites supporting existing and future HVDC service customers in Ireland and the UK.
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Operations Manager your duties will include supporting all aspects of the Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSA) contracts of existing and future client sites. You will work closely with the local Service Team and our support partners to provide high level engineering support and assistance. Flexible working hours may also be required for significant maintenance tasks and on an impromptu basis as required. You will be expected to contribute to the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance of the organisation and to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on the environment. There will also be the chance to support the wider HVDC business as and when required by the needs of the business.
