Electric Hydrogen’s mission is to make molecules to decarbonize our world! Our outstanding people are our most important asset and will allow us to deliver hydrogen from renewable electrolysis for heavy industry, at prices below fossil fuels. 

You will be reporting to the Director of EHS and Service Engineering. The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager will be responsible for managing efforts to create, develop, deploy and maintain a best-in-class EHS program that spans a wide-ranging organization.

Success in your role will require the ability to build relationships with people across all departments and across all levels of the company. It will also require curiosity to understand new processes, a sense of urgency, and a strong bias towards action.

This is a full time role. You will be based in our location in Devens, MA. This is an in-person, onsite position with a 25% travel requirement.

Core Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, physics, chemistry, biology, engineering discipline, or safety & occupational health
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience in EHS with international exposure and 2 years supervisory experience in manufacturing, laboratory, or operations settings
  • Strong knowledge of Federal, State and Local safety and environmental laws and regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, FAA, and other applicable local requirements)
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing line as well as R&D efforts including work under chemical hoods
  • 2+ Years of experience in a management position
  • Experience in developing and implementing Management Systems based on ISO14001 and ISO45001
  • Demonstrated ability to create measurable metrics to demonstrate the successful implementation and maintenance of EHS programs
  • Management of hazardous materials handling and disposal as well as facilities waste management and environmental compliance
  • Experience leading incident investigations in coordination with management
  • Build and implement an environmental emissions monitoring program across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience growing an EHS organization in an early-stage company in a related field (battery recycling, fuel cell development, hydrogen fueling)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Full ownership of engineering design/execution/manufacturing project
  • Managed budgets and schedules
  • Has been responsible for and led design reviews on technical deliverables
  • Experience working in engineering design and the safety review of that design (PHA, HAZID, HAZOP)
  • Comfortable working in an environment with high expectations and tight deadlines
  • Curiosity to understand new processes and increase depth of knowledge in areas without prior experience
  • Track record of building relationships with local authorities and reporting agencies
  • Technical and practical proficiency of EHS issues across research and development, manufacturing, construction and field operations
  • Managed training programs including their strategy, content, and deployment by identifying new training needs and tracking company compliance with training standards

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.​
