General Information:

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Controls Design Engineer for its Crystal Springs, Mississippi location. This role encompasses the design and analysis of parts, components, assemblies, subassemblies and systems, and the production of associated drawings and instructions for power transformer control cabinet. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of complex engineering assignments requiring in-depth knowledge of a specific engineering discipline plus an understanding of related disciplines to cost effectively achieve objectives. Assignments typically require the use of advanced and
innovative techniques. Proactively seek and implement initiatives to improve

operations and increase customer satisfaction.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Manage transformer control design project via coordination of various activities including, but not limited to
  • Perform regular power transformer control design per customer’s specification by using Hitachi Energy design tools.
  • Develop power transformer control design, like the cooling fan control, transformer temperature control monitor, gas monitor, CT or PT protection, on-load tap changer control, etc.
  • Prepare documentation and drawings for customers and shop like control wiring department, assemble shop etc.
  • Order the control materials per customer’s specification and standards for the transformer production.
  • Prepare design review documents and participate in technical meetings with customers.
  • Follow-up on manufacturing of approved designs and customer service.
  • Train and support junior electrical designers.
  • Plan, conduct, coordinate and develop recommendations using advanced engineering concepts and processes.
  • Negotiate matters of considerable significance with customers, which may impact current and future business.
  • Analyze new proposals, requirements, specifications, and products.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a minimum of 4 years of experience in transformer controls design or research, including transformer manufacture support and customer service skills.
  • Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Design experience with Distribution or power transformers.
  • Experience in the following tools is required: Microsoft Office (Excel, word, power point, etc.), Auto-CAD
  • In-depth knowledge of power system and transformer substation control experience, transformer protection knowledge
