ERM is seeking a motivated Consultant – EHS to join our team in Bucharest.

About the Role:

As a Consultant EHS, you will play a key role in supporting and leading a variety of H&S projects, ensuring full compliance with local, EU, and international regulations. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across various sectors, providing expert advisory services and contributing to the continued growth of ERM's services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety Leadership: Lead and support H&S projects, ensuring compliance with ISO 45001, OSHA standards, EU Directives, and other relevant local and international regulations.
  • Client Advisory: Provide strategic health and safety advisory services to clients, helping them identify their needs and developing tailored solutions to meet project requirements.
  • Risk Assessment & Auditing: Conduct thorough risk assessments, safety audits, and workplace inspections to enhance occupational health and safety performance.
  • System & Policy Development: Develop and implement H&S management systems, policies, and training programs that align with industry best practices.
  • Business Development Support: Contribute to the preparation of proposals, supporting business development initiatives to expand ERM’s H&S services in Romania and Eastern Europe.
  • Environmental Permitting & Sustainability: Engage in environmental permitting processes and sustainability advisory projects, including ESG, Taxonomy, and CSRD, as well as contributions to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), and Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD).
  • Project Coordination: Support, coordinate, and supervise multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outcomes within specified deadlines.
  • Proposal Development: Assist in the preparation of proposal sections, working closely with line managers and proposal teams to secure new projects.
  • Technical Due Diligence: Experience in technical due diligence would be an advantage, as you contribute to assessing and mitigating potential risks on projects.
  • Project Management: Manage or coordinate small- to medium-sized projects, establishing strong working relationships with clients and ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Industry Trends: Stay informed of the latest market and industry trends, keeping your expertise current and relevant to client needs.
  • Mentorship & Development: Mentor and support junior consultants, fostering a collaborative culture of knowledge-sharing and professional growth within the team.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Educational Background: A University degree or Master of Science in Environmental Science, Geography, Engineering, Planning and Development, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 3 years' experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) management and/or environmental impact assessments for major investment projects.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in both English and Romanian. Advanced proficiency in additional languages is considered a distinct advantage.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of Romanian and EU EHS regulations, as well as international best practices.
  • Permitting Expertise: Familiarity with Romanian permitting procedures, including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA), and environmental permitting processes.
  • Consulting Experience: Previous experience in a consulting environment is highly desirable.
  • Project Management: Experience in project management would be an advantage, particularly in managing cross-functional teams and delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • International Standards Knowledge: A solid understanding of international Environmental and Social (E&S) Safeguards and Standards, including IFC Performance Standards and EBRD Performance Requirements.
  • Commitment to Quality: Demonstrated commitment to excellence, health, and safety in all aspects of work.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Team Collaboration: A strong team player, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving and project delivery.
  • Multi-tasking Ability: Proven ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, while adhering to strict budgets and deadlines.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster positive working relationships and contribute to a supportive team environment.
  • Willingness to Travel: Willingness to travel for both local and international projects, with a particular focus on Hungary.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in the use of computers and software relevant to the role.
  • Driving License: A valid driving license and active driving status is required.
