Job Description

SparkCharge designs, manufactures, and sells portable DC to DC charging systems for electric vehicles. We will ONLY consider candidates who meet the "Requirements" below. The Senior Test Engineer will be expected to:

  • Implement and take responsibility for all component, sub-assembly, completed assembly, and manufacturing End Of Line testing processes in Somerville, MA and Buffalo, NY.
  • Design and create test fixtures for both individual PCB and system performance validation.
  • Design and create test fixtures for both completed battery units and completed charger units coming off the production line at our factory.
  • Program firmware to operate test fixtures.
  • Developing less experienced test engineers
  • Troubleshoot and solve testing problems.
  • Manage interoperability testing for EVs from all OEMs
  • Manage life cycle testing for SparkCharge products.
  • Research certification agency requirements (UL, ETL, CE, IEC, etc). Select those which apply to Company products. Write test plans for them.
  • Meticulously document and perform tests on a wide array of electrical and mechanical projects.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain test fixtures.
  • Maintain functional lab equipment. Manage the Company’s R&D Lab.
  • Rework printed circuit boards, maintain pilot and test units.
  • Help maintain product documentation such as Inter-connectivity diagrams, connection charts, requirements documents, bill of materials, and schematics.

Requirements

Candidates MUST have:

  • An Engineering degree from a four-year college or university. Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • A minimum of five year's full-time product testing experience at a company that produces tangible, electronics-based goods.
  • Experience designing and building test fixtures for PCBs.
  • Working knowledge of the theory behind production test fixtures.
  • Familiar with electrical, mechanical, systems engineering, and software design.
  • Experienced in safely working with high power.
  • Experience working with common Electric Test Equipment: Oscilloscope, Multimeters, Power Supplies, etc.
  • Strong communication skills and team-oriented personality.
  • Experience with Electric Vehicles.
  • Experience in the Automotive Industry.
  • Expert knowledge of LabVIEW software.
  • Soldering: SMT and through-hole components.
