Senior Department Manager, Electrical Engineering

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Department Manager, Electrical, to lead our team of electrical engineering professionals. The successful candidate will directly manage Engineering Department Managers and be responsible for both people management and technical supervision within the electrical engineering department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and provide technical direction to a team of electrical engineers and support staff, ensuring efficient and successful project execution.
  • Manage resources to meet or exceed client expectations, adhere to budgetary requirements, and industry standards.
  • Apply deep knowledge of industry codes and standards (NESC, ANSI/IEEE, NFPA, energy code, building code, FM Global electrical requirements, OSHA and develop comprehensive code analysis reports.
  • Oversee design and engineering of electrical power distribution systems, including medium/high voltage utility interface equipment and distributed energy resources (DER).
  • Direct design of power distribution, facility lighting, grounding, motor control systems, fire alarm systems and process control panels, adhering to National Electrical Code, UL 508 and client specifications.
  • Lead major project planning efforts, to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Spearhead quality review processes for team work products, ensuring regulatory and client specification compliance.
  • Mentor team members and foster their technical skill development and professional growth.
  • Serve as key client liaison, managing relationships and ensuring project requirements are understood and met.
  • Oversee preparation of technical reports, power system analyses, arc flash studies, load flow studies, and protective device coordination studies.
  • Oversee engineering projects during construction, including cost estimating, phasing/scheduling, responding to RFIs, submittal reviews and site inspections.
  • Maintain and update engineering practice standards and procedures.
  • Proposal development and review

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in any U.S. State
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience
  • Proven leadership skills successfully managing teams and projects
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and lead multidisciplinary projects.
