Job Description

Job Summary:

As part of the  Global Forest Watch (GFW) Engagement team, you will work across GFW to strengthen the usership and impact of GFW solutions through assessing and addressing the needs of GFW’s global community. Your responsibilities include managing webinars and developing training materials for GFW users, cultivating learning partnerships, building an online user community, and capturing and sharing user stories. You will serve as a liaison between GFW’s Engagement and Communications teams, sharing target audience insights and strategies, coordinating on user-facing website and outreach material updates, and drafting content for blogs and other communications materials.

You will also coordinate with the GFW Product team to maintain the Help Center and collect and synthesize user feedback; the GFW M&E team to collect and document user stories, and the GFW Research team to plan technical trainings. In this position, you will report directly to the Senior Manager for Global Engagement.

This position is remote due to Covid-19, but you will be based at WRI’s office in Washington, DC once restrictions have lifted with the possibility to be continued as remote.

Job Responsibilities:

Lead GFW Trainings and Manage Training Resources (50%)

  • Create and maintain content on the Help Center, which hosts training materials from GFW and GFW partners (globalforestwatch.org/help/)
  • Coordinate with the Platform team to continuously develop and improve the Help Center, including supporting user testing, administering user surveys, strategizing feature updates, and translating content into key languages
  • Lead webinars in collaboration with the GFW team and WRI international offices that demo technologies, data and insights, highlighting different workflows and use cases
  • Conduct outreach for webinars in coordination with the GFW Communications team, including targeted emails, social media, and paid advertising
  • Coordinate with translators to translate webinar materials into key languages (French, Spanish, Indonesian, Portuguese)
  • Lead online and in-person demos and trainings for key partners and target audiences on how to effectively use GFW solutions
  • Provide support to WRI staff and partners on demos, presentations, and trainings on GFW
  • Coordinate with the Engagement team to develop and implement training strategies on the use of GFW tools and data
  • Create and edit training materials for GFW workshops and events with NGO, private sector, government, and civil society audiences, including slide decks, practical exercises, and training videos
  • Manage webinar recordings and other training videos on GFW's You Tube channel
  • Develop guidance documents to help users select the appropriate forest monitoring tools for their needs

Expand GFW Usership and Support GFW User Community (50%)

  • Identify and cultivate partnerships with relevant online learning platforms and facilitate knowledge exchange through in-person and virtual events
  • Collaborate with the Product team to foster an active and collaborative online GFW community and to identify and implement user support mechanisms (e.g. online office hours)
  • Represent GFW at conferences and events to promote GFW and build relationships with existing partners and potential users
  • Create and maintain a calendar of key events and other engagement opportunities to promote GFW to target audiences
  • Help devise outreach strategies around new data and features, conduct direct outreach to potential users and partners, and advise GFW Communications team on target audience insights and strategies for effective outreach campaigns
  • Collect and document user stories, testimonials, and other examples of how people are using GFW in collaboration with the GFW M&E team, and, in collaboration with the Communications team, draft content to share these user stories through communications products (e.g. blogs, podcasts, videos)
  • Help grow GFW’s audience, collecting information via webinars, events and other engagement activities and tracking this information in Salesforce
  • Generate reports in Salesforce to share with program staff
  • Collect and synthesize user feedback and feed this information to the GFW Product team
  • Organize and support internal and external meetings, trainings and other engagement events
  • Other duties as required.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, environmental studies, international development, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience
  • A demonstrated interest in international environmental issues, data, technology, and communications
  • Experience in producing high-quality, polished communications and/or training products
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Strong organizational skills and an aptitude for project management
  • A team player, but also able to move things forward independently
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Creative problem-solver who likes to be challenged and think outside the box
  • Demonstrated experience leading webinars and trainings
  • US work authorization is required for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced language skills in French, Spanish, Portuguese or Bahasa Indonesia
  • Design skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Video and sound editing skills in Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro
  • Experience using WordPress or other CMS platforms
  • Experience with managing contacts and generating reports in Salesforce and Pardot Final candidates will be required to take a writing test or give a presentation to the hiring committee

Potential Salary:

$53,000 - $68,000. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
