Then keep reading - you’ve come to the right place.<h2>Role Description</h2>The Mechanical Engineering team at Form is responsible for designing the battery cell, module, and system enclosure that forms the foundation of our innovative utility-scale multi-day energy storage system.  We strive to deliver designs that are optimized for performance, quality, reliability, and cost for high-volume manufacturing at Form Factory.We're seeking a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and lead design efforts for crucial parts of our iron-air battery enclosure. You'll bring components and assemblies from concept to into mass production, with a strong emphasis on structural design, optimization and manufacturability of metal enclosures. As a problem solver, you'll creatively tackle mechanical design challenges and apply your knowledge of designing sheet metal and weldments for mass production. You'll work cross-functionally with teams on requirements definition, verification plans, and failure analysis to deliver a design that meets those requirements. Troubleshooting design problems as they arise and working to implement improvements will also be a part of your responsibilities. If this sounds like the perfect opportunity for you, apply now!<h3>What you'll do:</h3><ul style=""><li>Create white-page designs that will be the foundation of Form Energy’s Gen 2 product enclosure and module designs</li><li>Perform hands-on prototyping of designs and collaborate with broader teams to build integrated prototypes</li><li>Work with consulting companies, vendors, manufacturing engineers, and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to high volume production</li><li>Run and analyze trials to inform specs and future design direction</li><li>Release designs consistent with company and team best practices (drawings, tolerance analysis, etc)</li><li>Drive verification testing of your design work</li><li>Perform failure root cause analysis on systems and assemblies</li><li>Travel up to 20% to other Form Energy offices or vendor sites</li></ul><h3>What you'll bring:</h3><ul style=""><li>Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Bachelor's with 8+ years, or Master's with 6+ industry experience in mechanical design </li><li>Experience leading design work for complex mechanical systems and structural design</li><li>Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD), specifically SolidWorks modeling and drafting </li><li>Proficient in component design for mass manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), especially sheet metal, stampings, weldments and extruded components</li><li>Proficient with prototyping techniques and working in a machine shop environment</li><li>Familiarity with mechanical verification testing</li><li>Familiarity with electro-mechanical systems, power electronics, or batteries is a plus</li></ul>#LI-Onsite#LI-AB1Humanity is a cornerstone of Form Energy’s culture, and we make sure our compensation and benefits reflect that.
