Position Summary
Ava is seeking to hire a full-time Salesforce Director, reporting to the Senior Director of the Engineering, Analytics, and Salesforce teams. The ideal candidate will bring a breadth of expertise in Salesforce development, data modeling, big data integrations, and strategic management, including leading highly technical teams. The Salesforce Architect/Director will play a critical role in evaluating and optimizing Ava’s Salesforce implementation to support customer-centric programs, integrate with Google Cloud Platform, and enable scalable marketing campaigns. Key responsibilities include assessing the current Salesforce ecosystem, refining the data model to provide a 360-degree customer view, enhancing integration frameworks, and developing a roadmap for program delivery and marketing solutions. This is a unique opportunity to shape Ava’s Salesforce architecture to better serve our clean energy mission.


Position Details 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Lead the Salesforce team and guide a strategic Salesforce vision and roadmap, including providing strategic recommendations on resource allocation, team structure, and technology enhancements to optimize Salesforce usage.

  • Evaluate Ava’s Salesforce ecosystem, including data model, apps, technology integrations, and overall architecture, to ensure best-in-class implementation.

  • Assess and optimize Salesforce tools, organizational practices, and technology stack to align with organizational needs and goals.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather technical and non-technical requirements for Salesforce enterprise solutions, customer programs, and marketing campaigns.

  • Design and implement a Salesforce data model that supports a 360-degree view of the Ava Community Energy customer.

  • Identify opportunities to improve data integration between Salesforce and Ava’s Google Cloud Platform infrastructure.

  • Lead the evaluation and potential replacement of PowerPath with a Salesforce-centric solution to manage customer-related program data.

  • Work with the marketing team to identify Salesforce solutions that meet Ava’s marketing needs and develop a roadmap for implementation.

  • Develop and help implement a culture of Salesforce DevOps and DevOps best practices within the practice of Salesforce development at Ava.

  • Other duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including 7+ years of experience designing and implementing Salesforce enterprise solutions and managing Salesforce technical teams (technical management)

  • Previous hands-on experience with Salesforce development, including flows, Apex, app development, and Salesforce DevOps.

  • Hands-on experience with data and big-data analytics operations inside and outside of Salesforce environments.

  • Expertise in architecting and implementing data models for big-data Salesforce solutions, particularly in the utility sector.

  • Experience integrating Salesforce with cloud providers such as GCP, Azure, or AWS.

  • Proven ability to manage highly technical Salesforce teams and guide a strategic Salesforce vision and roadmap.

  • Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture for large-scale community programs and marketing campaigns.

  • Demonstrated experience collecting and analyzing detailed technical and non-technical requirements for Salesforce projects.

  • Preferred Salesforce certifications:

    • Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA)

    • Salesforce Certified Application Architect

    • Salesforce Certified System Architect

    • Salesforce Certified Data Architect & Management Designer

    • Salesforce Certified Integration Architecture Designer

 

Compensation and Benefits 
The annual salary for this position is $218,283 with a Total Compensation of up to $244,477 annually based on performance.

Location and Working Conditions 

This position will be based in Ava headquarters in Oakland, near BART. Ava's team has a hybrid approach inclusive of in-office and remote work. This role is expected to go into the office Tuesdays, Thursdays and the first Wednesday of the month.
