Job Description

Electric Hydrogen’s mission is to create an abundant and decarbonized material future. Our outstanding people are our most important asset and will allow us to deliver hydrogen from renewable electrolysis for heavy industry, at prices below fossil fuels. 
In this role, you will use your education in engineering to support the design, development, and deployment of a modular first-of-a-kind hydrogen plant based on our unique electrolyzer technology. You're right for this role if you are a self-motivated team player excited to leverage the power of engineering to improve the environment.
This position is based in San Carlos, CA.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Use first principles thinking to evaluate and improve the design of our hydrogen plant
  • Brainstorm various ways to achieve fluid system needs and communicate them as block diagrams
  • Do basic heat and mass balance math in excel to quantitatively size the various solutions
  • Find the appropriate pumps, valves, heat exchangers, chillers, fin-fan coolers, sensors, and actuators
  • Work with vendors to quote out custom equipment and build out our cost model
  • Own the architectural trades to identify which fluid systems will most economically and reliably work
  • Purchase, fabricate, and test equipment to help inform your decision-making
  • Get hands on in the lab to build prototypes, develop model correlations, ground assumptions, and refine new technologies
  • Present your findings to the team and alter the course of our hydrogen plant development

Required Experience and Professional Qualities

  • Partial or completed degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace or similar engineering field
  • Some hands on experience with fluid systems
  • Some experience in the engineering, procurement, and construction of physical systems
  • Track record of innovation, simplifying systems, reducing cost, and improving efficiency – ideally in both the design and build phases
  • Ability to strike a balance between being scrappy, entrepreneurial, quick, and high-level systems-thinking while also being quantitative, diligent, detail oriented, and clear at communicating
